The Weekly Buzz

Here's what's buzzing:

CATHOLIC CORNER

Virtue of the Month

Honesty

Honesty is the virtue of being truthful in both words and actions, even when it is difficult. It builds trust, strengthens relationships, and reflects integrity of character.

Choosing honesty means taking responsibility, avoiding deception, and doing what is right rather than what is easy. Over time, a commitment to honesty shapes a person into someone others can rely on and respect.

STUDENT SPOTLIGHT

Maya George

Maya George is a sophomore who is already making a meaningful impact in her community. She will graduate in 2028 and hopes to attend the University of Tennessee, where she intends to pursue a career as a behavioral specialist, working with children and adults with disabilities.

History is Maya’s favorite subject, and she is actively involved in Friends of Exceptional Children. Outside of school, she enjoys serving at her church and volunteering with programs that support individuals with disabilities, including Dance Without Limits.

Maya has two sisters who attend St. Pius X and will also graduate from McT. Recently, she went downtown with her St. Pius X parish community to help feed the homeless, where they were joined in service by Archbishop Rivituso. The experience left a lasting impression on her, and she hopes to see even more McT students get involved in service opportunities like this in the future.

FEATURED FACULTY

Mr. Mark Snyder

A 2019 graduate of Spring Hill College, our Enrollment Director, Mr. Mark Snyder, brings a background in marketing, communications, and agency experience to McGill-Toolen Catholic High School.

After working on brand campaigns, digital strategy, and client projects across the country, he now says his role at McGill-Toolen Catholic is the most fulfilling of his career. A true extrovert, Mr. Snyder is a people person who loves, not only working in our school community, but also with our partner schools.

Since joining in July 2025, he has quickly found a home within the Yellow Jacket community. He especially values the welcoming faculty and staff, the faith-filled students, and the strong sense of connection among families.

Outside of school, he enjoys time outdoors—especially on the water or at the beach—and is a big music fan who loves concerts and vinyl records.

He and his wife, Molly, will celebrate three years of marriage this May. They also have two adorable, and very mischievous, goldendoodles. He never thought he’d become a doodle dad, but our boy dog, Seuss, is my best buddy.

Mr. Snyder says, "As someone who grew up in Mobile, it means a lot to be a part of a school that has made such an impact on so many families. I love getting to meet new families, hear their stories, and help show people why it’s great to be a Yellow Jacket!"

It's Great to be Yellow Jacket!
