May is Chip Your Pet Month, National Pet Month and Pet Cancer Awareness Month.

Chip Your Pet Month
1 in 3 dogs will go missing in their lifetime!  Registered microchips give pets the best chance of returning home.  Harbor Humane Society is doing a $10 Microchip clinic Saturday, May 16 at the Holland Chow Hound located at 660 Chicago Dr., from 12-2 pm.  This clinic is for dogs, cats and rabbits.  Proceeds go to help our homeless fur friends at Harbor. National Pet Cancer Awareness Month- 6 million pets will be diagnosed with cancer this year...devastating!!!!  Petco and Blue Buffalo are fighting back!   Purchase any bag of Blue Buffalo dog or cat food in the month of May, and $1 will go towards the fight against Pet Cancer.   Click Here for details. If you haven't already, please research the food you feed your dog!!

May 3-9 is Be Kind to Animals Week- Building a better world for animals starts with teaching our children the value of kindness. Check out this website where you can download printable teaching sheets for different grade levels on how to be kind to animals. AWESOME!! 


May 4-10 is National Pet Week- a special time for dog devotees, fans of felines and other animal lovers to celebrate our bond with those who bark, purr and chirp.

May 4-10 is also Puppy Mill Action Week- Puppy mills contribute to pet overpopulation and cause countless dogs lifetimes of suffering in squalid wire cages. Help us stop this cycle of cruelty: Do your research before getting a puppy, and look into adopting a dog from your local shelter or rescue.
