The DUUC Family Choir needs your voices this Sunday 9/27 - All are welcome! The Family Choir is an intergenerational drop in choir that will perform at the 9:00am service. We will meet at 8:00am in the Sanctuary, learn a couple of easy songs by ear, and perform them that day. It is a wonderful way for kids to engage in music and families to participate in worship together. It also serves as a great opportunity for adults to connect with our youngest or just to try out choir. If you are interested in participating, reach out to Director of Music and Worship Arts, Carl Kennedy (ckennedy@dupageuuchurch.org) or just show up and sing!

Sunday Morning Adult Learning
|
| | Join us as we begin a new adult Neighboring Faiths series exploring the beliefs, traditions, and practices of the religious communities around us. Our first session will focus on Judaism, offering an introduction to Jewish history, beliefs, sacred texts, holidays, worship, and the diversity found within Jewish life today. At a time yet to be determined, participants will have the opportunity to visit a local synagogue, experience a worship service, and learn directly from members of the Jewish community. Come with curiosity, questions, and a spirit of respectful exploration.

Topic:The story of the Knights Templar and why it is important
|
The Knights Templar, one of the most remarkable military-monastic orders of the Middle Ages, came into existence as a direct result of the Crusades. The Templars were monks who were allowed to fight and knights who were accorded the status of monks—a new, hybrid entity in the medieval Christian world. The Templars followed a strict code called the Latin Rule. Many legends exist surrounding the Templars, who began with a stated desire to live in poverty but went on to have staggering wealth. The Templars were noted for their secrecy. We will explore the startling, unique, and recorded facts about the Templars as well as the many bizarre conspiracy theories surrounding the monastic order today.

This topic of discussion benefits from reading the foundational reading material (1 paper) that is provided upon request.
