Crossing Guard Volunteers

We are still in need of crossing guards for Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday afternoon, from 3:10-3:35. If you have time around dismissal to help out, this is a great way to serve the Heritage community.

Your support makes a meaningful difference in creating a safe and welcoming school community, and we would love for you to be a part of it! If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Erica Wallace at wallacee@hcs-nl.com.

Enrollment for 2027-2028

Enrollment for the 2027-2028 school year at Heritage Christian School will begin Monday, November 2, and priority will be given to current families for the first month. This is open to any new students (PreK-8th) desiring to enroll at Heritage. When enrollment begins, you will apply through your FACTS Family Portal. If your child currently attends Heritage, they are automatically enrolled for the next school year.

PRAYER WALK

Please join us as we walk and pray for Heritage Christian School on Wednesday, October 21. We will meet outside the school at 7:45am to pray for students, families, staff, faculty, board, etc. as we walk around the school. Children are welcome to join, but they will be expected to stay with parents and participate (there will not be childcare provided for this event). If you are unable to be physically present, feel free to join in prayer from wherever you are! Thank you for joining us as we seek the Lord.

Veterans Day Celebration Photos



If your child(ren) is new to Heritage Christian School and he/she has a relative that is a veteran or currently enlisted in the United States Armed Forces, please send a picture (preferably electronic) to Erica Wallace at wallacee@hcs-nl.com. These pictures will be added to a slide show and to a wall recognizing the families that have sacrificed for the security and safety of our nation. Please send all photos by Friday, October 23. All hard copy photos will be returned. Pictures submitted in previous years do not need to be resubmitted as we have kept electronic copies of them.

Veterans Day Celebration

You are invited to join us for this very special annual community event held at Heritage on Wednesday, November 11th. We are thankful for our veterans, and we look forward to honoring them. The event's prelude will begin at 9:30am and will conclude by 10:45am. Please join us outside after the ceremony for an honorary flyover at 11:00am.

Feel free to spread the word to your friends and neighbors so that we can once again celebrate and honor the brave men and women that have served our country

Box Tops

H.A.N.D.S. is spreading the word that next week, October 12th -18th, is National Box Tops Week. This is a great opportunity to help H.A.N.D.S. earn funds to support upcoming events like S'mores night this Sunday. All Box Top products will earn double and purchase 4 Box Tops items on one transaction will earn us 20 Box Tops, or $2 dollars. Basketball Coaches and Assistant Cheer Coach Needed



5th/6th Girls Basketball Coach and Assistant Cheer Coach Needed

We are still seeking coaches for the following positions:

• 5th/6th girls
• Assistant cheer coach (ideally who would like to be the head coach next year)

We are looking for individuals who would like to help us fulfill the following athletic goals:

1. Compete in a God-glorifying manner
2. Develop Christ-like character in student athletes
3. Develop and refine fundamental skills
4. Establish positive relationships.

Coaches at Heritage are volunteers and do not need a state certificate or license. We do ask that our coaches agree with our school’s statement of faith, pass our school’s volunteer background check, take a short concussion course, and agree to some coaching guidelines. Organizational and communication skills, along with background or experience in the sport of basketball/cheer help. If we do not find a coach for the 5th/6th girls basketball team, we will unfortunately not be able to field a team. If you are interested or know someone who might be a good fit for this role, please reach out to Sarah Franje (franjes@hcs-nl.com) . Sarah Franje will contact any interested persons after this date to set up a time to meet.

Sports Update

Volleyball Recap

Over the weekend, the Heritage Varsity team participated in the Trinity Net Fest tournament and played 5 matches over the course of Friday and Saturday. We went 1-2 in pool play losing to CCLS and Trinity Lutheran, while defeating Bethel Lutheran. Saturday afternoon, we went 2-0 in bracket play, winning the consolation bracket for 5th place. It took 3 sets to defeat Cedar Valley Christian, and Heritage finished the day playing some of our best volleyball this season, defeating Bethel Luteran in two sets.

This past Thursday, Heritage traveled to Pathway for a game. The JV faced some very tough serves from the Panthers, making it hard to serve receive. The fell in two sets 6-25 and 8-25. In the Varsity game, the Eagles kept it close at the beginning of the sets but couldn’t hold on, falling in two sets 15-25 and 13-25. Addison Maher and Sophia Sanchez led the team in kills with two apiece.

Basketball/Cheer

If your child plans to participate in basketball or cheer this winter, please have you and your child read and sign the Athletic Contract by November 2. If this is your child’s first sport at Heritage this school year, please also complete the additional forms below.

• Insurance Waiver
• Emergency Medical Authorization 
• Concussion Form

All athletic fees will be charged through FACTS ($60 for basketball, $40 for cheerleading). If you want to pay with cash/check, please submit payment before November 2. If you have not done so recently, please make sure your child’s athletic physical is up-to-date (past 12 months), and you have shared with the office.
