News and Updates from HCS

If you have any personal connection to a missionary, please send in a picture and information about that missionary so that we can include them on our Pray for the Nations bulletin board. Pictures and information can be given to Miss Early or the office. During the months of November and December we will be praying for missionaries around the world. We would love to fill up our “Pray for the Nations” bulletin board with missionaries from all over the world.

A Note from Heritage H.A.N.D.S.

There was a great turnout for Donuts with Dad! The kids dominated the adults in Cornhole! We hope the teachers survived a day of students energized by donuts and juice!
Thank you to the volunteers who helped set up, serve, and clean up. Thank you to the volleyball coaches and team for pitching in to help after their practice. We could not have gotten it done without your assistance. Finally, thank you to those who donated food, supplies, and cornhole games. It takes many hands to make these events possible, so thank you!
Pray for the Nations

October: Togo/Anani
Prayer Requests:
  • Pray for the church to be refined by rooting out syncretism, false teaching, and idolatry.
  • Pray for indigenous mission agencies to establish bases which send workers to an increasingly Muslim population.
  • Pray for an end to the evils of rampant child trafficking, prostitution, and exploitation of the poor.
  • Pray for Anani (our Compassion International sponsored child)…for his physical, emotional, and spiritual needs to be met (that he would have a vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ).

Soccer Recap:
The Eagles soccer team faced the Patriots at home on Tuesday, October 2. The Eagles offense came out strong with a quick goal early in the first half to take the lead. Conley Sundblad led the Eagles with four goals, Zander Edkin scored two goals, and Anthony Medina scored one goal. The Eagles defense worked hard to shut down the Patriots offense and the goalkeeper, Corey Holman, made some great saves to keep the ball out of the net. Way to go Eagles!

Volleyball Recap:
Both volleyball teams took on Trinity Lutheran Cedar Rapids last Thursday. The 5 th /6 th team continued to show strong serving, communication, and controlled passes. They were able to win the match with scores of 25-15 and 25-15. The 7 th /8 th grade team has been working on tipping the ball when close to the net and have showed great improvement in that area. The team continues to work on ball control and fell in two sets 7-25 and 22-25. We are looking forward to our last couple games to continue to improve our skills.
This past Tuesday, the Eagles traveled to Newhall, to play Central Lutheran. The 5 th /6 th team faced an improved Central Lutheran team and fell in two sets, 20-25 and 17-25. The 7 th /8 th grade team came out in the first match with great communication and teamwork. They showed great growth in their skills, but fell in both sets 19-25 and 19-25. We are looking to finish strong in our final week of play!
