Exciting News and Updates for Heritage Christian School
Last Thursday, the Heritage Board of Directors unanimously approved the acquisition of portable classrooms for the 2025-2026 school year, a step that allows us to move forward with enrolling a significant number of new students. While there are still many details to finalize—such as classroom placement, specific class assignments, and occupancy timing—one thing is clear: we are growing!
This year, we have three grades with two sections—Kindergarten, 2nd grade, and 5th grade—which will translate to two sections in 1st, 3rd, and 6th grades next year. Early applications suggest we’re on track to have two sections in PreK, Kindergarten, and likely an additional 4th grade as well. In just one year, we could potentially double the number of grade levels with two sections, offering six out of ten grades (PreK through 8th). Plus, we have over 30 inquiries already in the queue! God is clearly at work. As Isaiah 43:19 says, "Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert."
In the movie Field of Dreams, Kevin Costner hears the famous line, “If you build it, they will come.” For Heritage Christian School, they’re already coming, and growth is no longer a hope but a reality.
Feasibility Study:
We’re partnering with Mission Advancement to lead us through a feasibility study and ultimately a capital campaign. This will help us raise funds for our building expansion, which will include additional classrooms, gym space, dedicated music and art rooms, expanded office and staff workrooms, and intervention spaces.
Building Expansion:
We’ve contracted with FRK Architects + Engineers from Des Moines, who specialize in school design. With 90% of their clients being schools, they have a proven track record, including designing Christine Grant Elementary in North Liberty and overseeing building expansions at Pella Christian School.
There will be multiple opportunities for you to get involved as we continue with this exciting process. We’ll keep you updated on those as they arise. In the meantime, we ask that you join us in prayer for this project - that God will be glorified throughout, and that His work will be evident as we run the race before us and equip Heritage Christian School to serve an even greater number of families in the Corridor.
