No school tomorrow!
Donuts with Dad - Friday, October 5, 7:45-8:25am

Students, bring your dad (or uncle, grandpa, friend, neighbor or even your mom!) to enjoy donuts, coffee and juice before school on Friday, October 5. Put on your Heritage apparel, grab your lawn chair or bleacher seat, and join us for a morning of fellowship! There will be gluten free and vegan free donuts available. Hope to see you all there!

Prayer Requests:
  • Pray for the church to be refined by rooting out syncretism, false teaching, and idolatry.
  • Pray for indigenous mission agencies to establish bases which send workers to an increasingly Muslim population.
  • Pray for an end to the evils of rampant child trafficking, prostitution, and exploitation of the poor.
  • Pray for Anani (our Compassion International sponsored child)…for his physical, emotional, and spiritual needs to be met (that he would have a vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ). 
Sports Update

Coaches Needed:
Cheerleading Head Coach, Cheerleading Assistant Coach, 5/6 Girls Basketball Assistant Coach, 7/8 Girls Basketball Head Coach, 7/8 Girls Basketball Assistant Coach, and Track Assistant Coach.
The responsibilities for these positions includes providing supervision at all practices and games, teaching sports specific skills and games strategies, maintaining game stats, and upholding all policies in the HCS Parent/Student Handbook and Athletic Policy. In addition, all candidates must demonstrate a personal relationship with Christ and be in agreement with the HCS Statement of Faith. If you are interested, please contact Serah Snell at snells@hcs-nl.com by Friday, October 5.

Volleyball/Cross Country Recap:
Last week Thursday, the 5 th /6 th and 7 th /8 th grade volleyball teams traveled to Pathway. The 5 th /6 th team used strong serving to win in two sets, 21-17 and 21-11. The 7 th /8 th grade team showed improvement on passing the ball to the setter but fell in two sets 25-12 and 25-16.
The 7 th /8 th grade volleyball team traveled to Waterloo last Saturday to participate in a tournament. The first match found the Eagles playing St. Pats, an evenly matched team. Despite some close sets and a tie-breaking set, the Eagles lost, 18-21, 21-16, and 13-15. In the second match against Valley Lutheran, the Eagles had several passes to the setter and hits, and they came away with their first win! The scores were 21-15, 20-22, and 15-13. The final match of the day, had us playing against the host school, Waterloo Christian, who featured some powerhouse servers and hitters. The Eagles fell 12-21, 21-12, and 3-15.
The 5 th /6 th volleyball team played their final home game this past Tuesday. They faced a tough Patriots team (INCA and Cedar Valley). While the girls showed growth in both serving and controlled passes, the Eagles fell in three sets, 17-25, 25-12, and 8-15.
 
This past Monday, two Heritage students ran in the Trinity Lutheran cross-country meet at Camp Io-dis-E-Ca. Jesse Stultz ran the one mile course in 6:58, and placed 6 th in the 5 th /6 th race. Anthony Medina ran hard and finished in time of 7:16 to place 8 th . Great run boys!
