Share your ESA Family Impact Story!
Have you received support through the Iowa Education Savings Accounts and are you willing to tell your story about how the ESA has impacted your lives this past year? The Iowa Association of Christian Schools (IACS) is looking for at least one or two families from every Christian school in Iowa to share their stories as you are the greatest advocates in defense of educational freedom. There are two ways you can help:
- Record a short 15-90 second video (good lighting and minimal background noise) explaining why you wanted to move your child to a new learning environment and/or applied for an ESA, and how your child is doing after Year 1 of the ESA program (any noticeable improvements in their education, etc.). Say something like "Were it not for the ESA..."
- Write a couple of paragraphs explaining why you wanted to move your child to a new learning environment and or applied for an ESA, how your child is doing after Year 1 of the ESA program (any noticeable improvements to their education, etc.), and share a photo of your family to be used in IACS monthly newsletters, website, and social media posts. Say something like "Were it not for the ESA..."
Send any questions or story submissions to Brenda Wichhart at wichhartb@hcs-nl.com.

Book Fair Results
Thank you to all the families that participated in the book fair! Chrissy Middle really enjoyed meeting each of you! Every order counted! We had over $2100 books ordered. With the $430 in book donations and the $1050+ in book rewards, we can fill all the teacher wishlists again! God is Good!
We had 21 students fill out tickets to win a free book and 5 were selected. Congratulations to Cooper Pritchard, Lucas Garvin, Joshua Eisenhammer, Maggie Barclift, and Bria Palmer! Books will be in your classrooms to take home today.
There is a new event link online for any birthday or Christmas orders coming up. All event rewards will benefit the school on the next book fair. paperpie.com/brandpartner/1111424/event/4035476
A huge shout out and thank you to Chrissy Middle for coordinating this Book Fair for us. We love our parent involvement and support!

Heritage Soccer Update
by Marco Alambert, Assistant Coach
They did it! After winning 10 games in a row, our Eagles held off the current two-time champions to a draw at their home field in Davenport yesterday, and capped off the regular season in 1st place!
We are just so proud of our athletes! After defeating a single team last year, we've been able to prevail against all of our opponents this year, including the reigning champs--who, by the way, did not score against us in two matches. A special shout out to our defense and to all players who kept moving the ball forward, outscoring our competition 42-8 during the season.
Now that the regular season is over, we advance to the Conference Tournament at Williamsburg H.S. stadium tomorrow (Saturday) as the #1 seed!
We'll be playing at 10:30 a.m. against the winner of a previous qualifying match, vying for a spot in the final. If we win that first game, we will be facing the winner of the match between the current champs and the only team who won against us in the first game of the season, playing in front of their home crowd. The final will be played at 4 p.m.
If you want to witness this exciting competition, we encourage you to bring the family and cheer for our Eagles! I'll post on Facebook and tag HCS if we advance to the final, in case you want to join us in the afternoon.
Again, we are so proud of our athletes and the ways they carried themselves this year, with hard work, determination, and grace under pressure.
GO EAGLES!

Middle School Lock-in
The HCS middle school lock-in is set to take place on Friday, October 18. This is a fun time of games, food, and fellowship. A speaker is also invited to encourage and challenge the students in God’s Word. Middle school students should have brought home information about the lock-in on Friday. Included in this information is a permission slip for attendance, a schedule of events, what they will need to bring, and a link to sign up for supplies needed. We need to have at least four overnight chaperones (two men and two women) in order for the lock-in to take place. All permission slips must be turned in by Friday, October 4. We hope all middle school students will be able to come! If you have questions, please contact Sarah Franje (franjes@hcs-nl.com), Jenn Van Otterloo (vanotterlooj@hcs-nl.com), or Anna Hopperdietzel (hopperdietzel@hcs-nl.com).

Missions - Mrs. Pretorious & Kossigan
Please continue to pray for global workers Michael and Mary Pretorious and for our Compassion International sponsored child, Kossigan, from Togo. Students are welcome to contribute towards Kossigan’s sponsorship (through Compassion International) by giving money in their classrooms or the office. Thank you!
“The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in His love He will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.” Zephaniah 3:17
Please pray for:
· Protection (physical, spiritual, emotional, etc.)
· Boldness (to share Jesus authentically and powerfully)
· Peace (people of peace to help share the Good News)
· Assurance (that God is with them and is for them)
