Heritage Soccer Update
Hello, Heritage Families! My name is Marco Alambert, a fellow HCS parent (to Bella in 8th grade), and the Assistant Coach to this year's Heritage Eagles Soccer team. I'm having the pleasure and privilege of once again assisting Coaches Fred & Kari Rodrigues, under the direction of Mr. Harshman, our HCS Athletic Director. I am writing this to update you on how our student athletes have been doing in the season so far.
This year, HCS has joined a sports conference (IDE, or Iowa District East) which includes many of the schools we've traditionally played through the years, and a few more. As a result, our athletes have been challenged to more games than ever before--often three per week--on top of practices, and on top of everything else they have going on at home, school, church, and beyond. In doing so, they have demonstrated their commitment and resilience, and the outcomes have been extraordinary.
We started the season with a setback: playing at home, tied 1 to 1, our opponents from Williamsburg seized on an opportunity for a breakaway and scored the winning goal of the match. Not exactly how we hoped to start, with a 0-1 record.
What followed, however, has been remarkable. Our athletes stepped up their game, and we have been on an eight-game winning streak ever since! Of note, we went on to win games by large margins, to defeat Williamsburg on their home field, and to beat the reigning 2-time conference champions Davenport, which had not lost a single soccer game since 2022. Yesterday, we had our first twice-come-from-behind victory in program history. Our kids deserve a lot of credit for what they have accomplished this far. This has already been, by all measures, a very successful season. But we are not done yet.
We now enter our final stretch of competition. And it will be a challenging one. Our athletes will go on the road for three games next week, culminating with a clash vs. Davenport at their home turf on Thursday. That game will likely determine the number-1 seed for the tournament that will follow, in Williamsburg, on Saturday, which will crown this year's Champion.
Whether this is all news to you or if you are one of the committed parents who have been invested in this season since the late summer practices, let's all join in encouraging and cheering hard for our student athletes as they take on the challenges ahead, and continue to represent Heritage with a God-honoring attitude and effort. Go Eagles!

Stuff, Etc. Account
Looking to consign some items around the house that you no longer need? Consider bringing them to Stuff, Etc. and donating them to the school's account. Heritage H.A.N.D.S. uses the proceeds from the account to support a variety of activities and build community in the school. Just drop your items off and tell them to put them on the Heritage Christian School account!

Missions - Miss Mysnyk & Kossigan
Miss Mysnyk is a former Heritage student and teacher, and she is currently serving as a global worker. We have a NEW COMPASSION KIDDO, Kossigan. He is a sweet boy from Togo that we sponsor as a school through Compassion International. We encourage you to be praying for them, as we continue to pray for them at school with your children. Students were given prayer cards and magnets in their Friday folders today to remind them to pray. Students are welcome to contribute towards Kossigan’s sponsorship (through Compassion International) through giving money in their classrooms or the office. Thank you!
“The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in His love He will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.” Zephaniah 3:17
Please pray for:
· Protection (physical, spiritual, emotional, etc.)
· Boldness (to share Jesus authentically and powerfully)
· Peace (people of peace to help share the Good News)
· Assurance (that God is with them and is for them)
