Sports Update
Volleyball Recap:
The Heritage volleyball team started their season by playing Pathway this past Thursday. The 5 th /6 th girls were excited to play and quickly got the hang of playing; for many girls, it was their first time to play in a volleyball game. With strong 6 th grade leadership and consistent serving the girls were able to win the match in two sets, winning 21-15 and 21-12. The 7 th /8 th grade team (along with help from the 6 th grade athletes) improved each set, but fell 10-25, and 12-25. In the third, non-determining set they were able to keep it close, only coming up short by two, 13-15. The team became more aggressive as the match went on and did a fantastic job encouraging one another. Keep up the great work and come cheer on the Eagle volleyball team next week, as we play at home on both Tuesday and Thursday!

Soccer Recap:
The HCS soccer team took to the field this week for two games following their tournament championship and continued their strong play. The Eagles hosted Central Lutheran on Tuesday and came away with a 3-0 victory. The Eagles dominated the game with stifling defense and controlled the tempo of the game from the beginning by scoring two first half goals. During the second half the Heritage team continued with the pressure offensively and had several opportunities for a score but only came away with one more goal. A strong team effort on both ends was the key to the shutout victory. The second game this week for the Heritage Eagles was against Trinity Lutheran of Cedar Rapids. The game was physical and a hard fought contest throughout. The Eagles scored three goals in the first half but were unable to protect and secure the victory. Trinity managed to tie the game up in the second half and the game ended 3-3. With the win and tie this week the Eagles season record is now 7-0-1. The soccer team will return to action next week on Monday, September 9 at Lutheran Interparish School starting at 5:00 pm.
