Dad's Saturday Morning Prayer

Dear Heritage Dads,
1 Timothy 2:8 says, “I desire then that in every place the men should pray, lifting holy hands without anger or quarreling.”
Clearly God wants everyone – male and female – to pray, but there is a special responsibility placed on men, especially those of us who are husbands and fathers. The word for ‘men’ that Paul uses here does not mean ‘mankind’ in general but ‘males’; particularly those who are mature and have the responsibility of leading a family. Those of us who follow Christ and are blessed to be husbands and fathers bear the responsibility for our families before God. This responsibility extends to our roles as parents in our provision for our children’s spiritual and academic growth as well (Deut. 11:18-19 and Prov. 22:6).
I want to invite you to join me Saturday, October 5 from 7:30 AM – 8:30 AM to exercise our responsibilities as dads to pray. We’ll spend a small part of our morning to pray for our sons and daughters, the students at Heritage, our teachers, and the school in general (don’t worry, I’ve already checked for you, the Hawkeyes are away at Michigan that weekend).
In our fast moving world, prayer is easily squeezed to the margins of our lives. I’m hopeful we can set aside some time where we as men can come together and put prayer for God’s school at the center of our attention. I hope you’ll consider joining with other dads at Heritage as we pray for our students, teachers, and school. No RSVP necessary just show up at 7:30. We’ll pray for individual classrooms and teachers, our programs, and for new students and families to see Heritage as an education destination in the North Liberty area. I hope to see you on October 5.
Serving Him,
Scott Montgomery
A Glimpse of Day-to-Day at Heritage

If you don't already, follow us on facebook and instagram and see what happens on a day to day basis at Heritage. We try to post a few times a week and give you a glimpse into what your kids are doing. Sharing these posts is an easy way for your friends to see and hear about Heritage as well!
Before and After School Supervisors Needed
Help spread the word among your friends, in the neighborhood, at your churches, and at work. If you know someone who loves working with kids and is looking for a part time job, send them our way. We're looking for additional Before and After School Supervisors from 7-8am and/or 3:30 to 5:30pm each school day. This is a great opportunity for a college student to pick up some part time work (hourly rate is $12.00). Feel free to print out this flyer to share or post. Sports Update

Volleyball Recap:
The Heritage volleyball team traveled south to Mt. Pleasant to take on the Knights. In the first set the girls started out strong and formed a significant lead, but they couldn’t hold off a late charge by the Knights and dropped the first set 24-26. Set two was close with the Eagles coming on top 25-20. In the third and deciding set, the Eagles couldn’t pull it out and fell 12-15. Come out and cheer us on next week for our final two home games on Tuesday and Thursday. Go Eagles!

Soccer Recap:
The Heritage Christian soccer team returned to action this week on Thursday evening for their last home game of the season. The Eagles defeated the LIS Panthers 11-1. HCS got off to a strong start scoring the game’s first four goals before the Panthers answered with a goal of their own. The scoring continued for the Eagles with numerous players getting into the scoring column. Defensively the Eagles played another solid game, controlling the game from the beginning and never allowing the Panthers to mount a serious offensive threat. The win improves the season record to 10-0-1 with one game remaining. The Eagles will finish the season at INCA on Tuesday, October 1 at 5:00 pm.
