Before and After School Check in Procedures

During the Before School Program, the Lead Teacher will be in charge of allowing parents/guardians into the building. The parent/guardian will say their last name and number through the intercom system and will be verified prior to being let in.

During the After School Program, when parents arrive for pick up they will say their last name and number through the intercom system and will be verified prior to being let in by the Extended Care Coordinator.

Curriculum Review Committee

We're looking for individuals interested in reviewing History curriculum options for next school year. In order to be a part of the committee, you must be (or become) a member of the Association (indicate support of the HCS bylaws and Statement of Faith by signing the Association membership form and paying the $5 annual dues). If you are interested in volunteering in this capacity or have questions about what this might entail, please contact Rachel Super (superr@hcs-nl.com) by February 1st.

Grant Wood AEA Hearing Screening – January 29

Grant Wood AEA is scheduled to be at Heritage on Wednesday, January 29th beginning at 8:30am to conduct hearing screenings on all students in Kindergarten, 1st, and 5th grades.

HANDS Pool Party CLASS COMPETITION!!!

Please join us for an evening of FREE family fun at the North Liberty Community Center indoor pool Sunday, January 26th @6-7:30pm. We’ve rented the entire pool so feel free to invite your friends and neighbors to join us! Make sure to MARK your calendars now!

PLUS we are adding a CLASS COMPETITION!!! We will reward the TOP Middle School Class (grades 6-8) and TOP Class (grades PreK-5) in attendance with DONUTS on Monday!

It will be an all day fundraiser so stop on in for breakfast on our day off of school!!  A percentage of the sales goes back to Heritage H.A.N.D.S. for their awesome work of building community at the school! Annual Fund Update

Praise God our Annual Fund total continues to grow! If you haven't taken the opportunity to support this important campaign, there's still time! Thank you for your continued support and generosity! As of today, we've raised $50,639.97!

Heritage Gala!

Mark your calendars for our annual Educating for Eternity Gala scheduled for Saturday, February 22nd from 5-8:30pm at Bella Sala Event Center in Tiffin. This event is one of Heritage's largest fundraisers and helps raise funds for the general budget and offset tuition costs. We're excited that in addition to a catered plated dinner, we'll have live music, and both a silent and live auction that evening. If you attended last year, you'll know how much fun the evening is! The committee is currently soliciting sponsorships and auction items. If you know of a business that may be interested in jumping on board as a sponsor or an idea for an auction item, please contact Brenda Wichhart. This is a great opportunity to invite friends and family for a fun evening of fellowship and supporting Heritage!

Winter Weather Information



1.   A text message via Parent Alert will be sent out to inform of a school closure or delay. If you provided your cell phone information to the school, you should receive these messages.

2.   When checking for closures/delays on local media, please look specifically for information on Heritage Christian School. While our decisions are often the same as Iowa City School District and Clear Creek Amana, they are not ALWAYS the same.

3.   Decisions to delay or cancel will be made no later than 6:30 AM. If it is determined that a late start is necessary, please continue to watch the news. If weather conditions do not improve, school will be cancelled by 8:30 AM.

4.   In the event of early dismissal due to weather or other emergency, parents will be notified through a text message via Parent Alert.

5.   Please make attendance decisions you are comfortable with. If you are concerned about traveling when driving conditions are poor or it is brutally cold, please make personal decisions accordingly.

6.   With a delayed start, we always do a 90 minute delay so please arrive between 9:30-9:40am. Classes will begin at 9:45am.

7.   When driving conditions are poor and school IS in session, we will not count students tardy allowing parents necessary travel time.

8.   Heritage Christian School does not normally close for cold temperatures.

9.   Please check KCRG, KGAN, KWWL, local radio AM 800 and the Heritage Christian School Facebook page for inclement weather information.

Missions - Mrs. Pretorious & Kossigan

Please continue to pray for global workers Michael and Mary Pretorious and for our Compassion International sponsored child, Kossigan, from Togo. Students are welcome to contribute towards Kossigan’s sponsorship (through Compassion International) by giving money in their classrooms or the office. Thank you!
