News and Updates from HCS
We encourage you to celebrate Halloween at home, if you choose to do so, in a manner that you find appropriate for your family. Please do not send your children to school dressed up in costumes or with candy/treats on Thursday for the purpose of celebrating Halloween.

Our non-participation is not a judgment on the holiday itself or those who celebrate it, but rather a judgment on the best use of school time.
Thank you for your understanding.
Veterans Day Celebration
Invite your friends and family to this very special annual community event held at Heritage. We are thankful for our veterans, and we look forward to honoring them. This year's guest speaker will be Karl "KJ" Johnson, Lt.Col., USMC (Ret.), Director of the C.S. Lewis Institute in Chicago. KJ retired after 20 years in the Marine Corps where he served as a helicopter pilot, weapons and tactics instructor, and operations officer. He’s a veteran of numerous deployments and served as the Air Mission Commander for former Presidents George H.W. Bush and William J. Clinton.

Spread the word to your friends and neighbors so that we can pack the gym once again to celebrate and honor the brave men and women that have served our country.

H.A.N.D.S. Restaurant Nights

H.A.N.D.S. sponsors these nights roughly once a month at various restaurants in the area. Restaurant Nights are fundraisers that local restaurants provide to schools and organizations as a means of serving and supporting the community. A portion of the proceeds from those nights (as designated by the particular restaurant) is given back to H.A.N.D.S. which they in turn use to support various events and activities at the school.

Join us for our next Restaurant night on November 5th from 4-8pm at Chick-fil-A in Coralville. 20% of the sales will be given back to Heritage H.A.N.D.S. for their awesome work of building community at the school! Hope to see you there!
Parent Student Handbook

If you're looking for the Parent Student Handbook on the website, you'll notice that it's no longer there. Instead, that document can be found on Parents Web (Family Portal). When you log on to your account, click on Resource Documents under the School tab and you can access it there. If you have any questions, feel free to contact the office.
Sports Update

Volleyball Recap:
The 6 th -8 th grade volleyball team traveled to Trinity Lutheran School in Davenport last Saturday for a tournament. The girls won three sets and lost three sets, missing out on advancing out of pool play by 8 points. In the first match of the day, the Eagles took on Central Lutheran. Both teams were evenly matched, with Heritage taking the first set 22-25 and falling in the second set 14-25. Heritage played LIS in the second match and came away with the victory, 25-17 and 25-18. The last game of pool play found us playing INCA. Despite the girls great improvement in controlled passes, we couldn’t get past INCA’s tough serving and fell 13-25 and 16-25. The 5 th -8 th grade girls showed tremendous growth throughout the season. Thank you to our 8 th grade leaders, Sarah Robinson, Bella Mosier, and Abbey Coons!
