Parent Orientations next Tuesday and Thursday!

Parent Orientation exists to give parents and teachers a time to discuss the goals, expectations, and operations of their specific classes. Teachers give brief presentations (approximately 15 minutes) introducing themselves, outlining the classroom schedule, the curriculum, discipline, goals for the year, and other items helpful to parents. There is also time provided throughout the evening when individual parents can speak with their child's teacher. If you have students in multiple grades, you may want to split up to attend all sessions.

In addition to teacher presentations, Mr. Montgomery will also talk with parents in the Middle School Science Classroom. The same presentation will be given during each of the time slots so parents can attend any of the three times that works with the schedule. Childcare is not provided.

Tuesday evening is the Kindergarten through 5th grade Parent Orientation night . The schedule is as follows:
Thursday evening is the 6th-8th Grade Parent Orientation night . The evening begins at 6:30pm and concludes at 7:45pm. All presentations will take place in the Middle School Science Classroom.

Lunch Server Needed

We still need one more server to help out on Thursdays. Serving lunch is a fun way to get to know the teachers and students at Heritage! If you're not able to help out, pass the opportunity along to a grandparent or friend - they don't have to be directly connected to the school. If you would like to serve but can't commit to every week due to having younger children and finding childcare for them, we have a parent interested in setting up a "share the fun" possibility...take turns serving lunch one week and supervise a play date with your young ones the next! Let me know if you're interested in pursuing that option. The time commitment is from 11am-12:30pm.
Please call or email Brenda Wichhart in the office if you are willing to serve in this capacity . ( or 319-626-4777 )
Before and After School Supervisors Needed
Help spread the word among your friends, in the neighborhood, at your churches, and at work. If you know someone who loves working with kids and is looking for a part time job, send them our way. We're looking for additional Before and After School Supervisors from 7-8am and/or 3:30 to 5:30pm each school day. This is a great opportunity for a college student to pick up some part time work (hourly rate is $12.00). Feel free to print out this flyer to share or post. If you or someone you know is interested, contact Lisa Turnbough (
Volunteer Screening Process

If you anticipate volunteering with direct supervision over students this year (driving for field trips, serving lunch, coaching, etc.), you will need to complete a Volunteer Application. This application needs to be done each school year so even if you filled one out last year, you will need to do it again this year before being able to volunteer . You can visit our website and click on Volunteer Application under the Parents drop down menu or click here  to access the application. You'll choose the volunteer option and then click on the form for the volunteer opportunity you would like to apply for. One item to note is that if you will be driving for a field trip, we need a copy of your drivers license as well as a copy of your declarations page showing your vehicle insurance limits (not just the insurance card). If you have questions, contact Lisa Turnbough at
