Operation G.O.O.D. Update

WE MADE IT!  As a school we raised $35,171.93 ( $10,321.93 over our goal!). An additional $1,970 will be added to that total through a match opportunity from UI Credit Union which will bring our total to $37,141.93 PRAISE GOD!  To celebrate, there will be an ALL SCHOOL PICNIC on Friday, May 10th (Pre-K-8 th grades) in the afternoon (with a rain date of Friday, May 17 th , if needed). Students will be treated to lunch (pizza and a juice box), and we will play some all school games. At the end of the day, teachers and interested eighth grade students will participate in a sloppy obstacle course while the whole school cheers them on. Parents are welcome to come to school to watch this fun event (which should begin around 2:15, but could be earlier or later than this time). 
Congratulations to the 6 th Graders who brought in the most money per student out of the whole school and will be treated to an extra special class party. Congratulations to all of the classes that reached their class goal and will celebrate with a class party of some variety.

A Note from H.A.N.D.S. - Teacher Appreciation Week - May 6-10

Teacher Appreciation Week is next week. A flier with all the information was emailed to you and will be in Friday Folders today. Please encourage your children to bring a thank you note for all of their teachers on Monday

Thank you for the incredible response for donations for the week. We are in need of more lunch/recess volunteers so our teachers can enjoy lunch together. Please take a look at the times available and see if you can spare an hour in your day to make the day for the staff.  Teacher Appreciation Week
Heritage H.A.N.D.S. Meeting - Wednesday, May 8, 8AM

Please join us for the last H.A.N.D.S. meeting of the 2018-2019 school year on Wednesday, May 8, at 8:00am. We will be electing new officers and planning events for the 2019-2020 school year. If you are interested in the position of president, vice president, or New Family Mentor Coordinator for the 2019-2020 school year, come to the meeting, or let the office know. As always, younger siblings are welcome. If you cannot make the meeting, but have ideas you would like to share, please let us know!

Association Meeting - Thursday, May 9, 7PM

Join us this Thursday night for our spring Iowa City Area Christian School Association (ICACSA) meeting. The agenda for the evening will be as follows:

If you still need to renew your membership, stop by the office next week to pay the $5 dues and sign the Association membership form. If you plan to renew the night of the meeting, plan to come a little early to take care of the $5 payment and sign the form.
Operation G.O.O.D Service Project - Next Friday!

Again this year, our students will be going in different groups to serve the city and community. Kindergarten through 3 rd  grade students will return to Squire Point to support the Army Corps of Engineers in battling the invasive Garlic Mustard Weed and picking up trash. 4 th -8 th  grade will be working within the city limits serving the city itself with various projects. Please pray with us as we prepare for this experience with our students. Pray also for favorable weather next Friday so we can complete the work.

Please remember to send your students with long sleeves and pants, tennis shoes, gloves, hats, and bug spray!

Spring Concert Information
 
Rehearsal
The traditional Spring Concert rehearsal for 2nd-8th grade Heritage Singers this year will be held on Tuesday, May 14th from 8:45am to 11:30am. Pre-K-1st grade will run a normal schedule .
 
Arrival
The Spring Concert will be Tuesday night, May 14th from 7-8pm. Students need to arrive no later than 6:30pm and should meet in their classrooms.
 
Dress Code
Students are required to "dress-up" for this performance. Girls should wear dresses, skirts, or dress slacks in accordance with the school dress code (refer to the Parent Student Handbook ). Boys should wear collared shirts (button down is preferred) and dress pants (including khakis). Please, no blue jeans or tennis shoes. Important: 5th-8th grade students will receive a discipline slip if they do not meet dress code for this performance. While the performance includes 2nd-8th grade students, all families are encouraged to attend!  
Field Day Help Needed!
Please consider volunteering to help with our K-4 Field Day this year! The date of the event is Tuesday, May 28th and will run from 12:30-3:10 pm. Summer Highest Hoops Basketball Camp

We'll again be offering our Highest Hoops Basketball camp with Lisa Bishop this summer. Students who have completed 1st through 8th grade are invited to join us August 12-14. Please see the flier for more details and sign up by emailing [email protected] .
Summer Drama Camp

Our school is hosting a drama camp again this summer from June 10-14 th and we’d love to see your child there!  
Please see the flyer for details, and feel free to share with anyone you think may be interested! All registrations and payments (checks payable to Heritage Christian School) must be received by May 15th. Your child will need to provide their own lunch for this camp.
