News and Updates from HCS

Welcome Back!

We're so excited to have students in the building again! Thanks for your patience as we work into new routines and procedures.

Important Car line and Parking Lot Reminders:

*If you need to exit your vehicle to help your child get out in the morning, please park in the parking lot rather than get out in the car line as that tends to hold up traffic. Also remember to pull ahead as far as possible before stopping to let your children out (all the way past the fire hydrant if you're the first in line). Please avoid having your students get out of the car back by the dumpster as that also creates a back up.

*Please have your carline number hanging visibly in your car and do not get out of your car in the carline. If your child needs help getting in or buckling, you'll need to park and come into the building to get them. If you are coming into the building to pick up please bring your number with you for Brenda to see. If you need a new carline number, contact Sarah in the office (new ones are $5/each) or you're welcome to simply make your own on a piece of paper.

*Again, please be patient as we work out the hiccups of a new year, new parents, and new students!

Raptor Visitor Management System

This year we will begin using the Raptor Visitor Management System to strengthen our program of campus safety for students and faculty.

  • All visitors must enter through the school’s front door and present an ID such as a Driver’s License to be scanned or manually entered into the Raptor Visitor Management System.
  • Once entry is approved, the Raptor will issue a badge that identifies the visitor, the date, and the purpose of his/her visit to be worn in plain sight while in the building.
  • All visitors must leave through the school’s front door so the time of their departure can be recorded.
  • After you've submitted your Driver's license the first time, you won't have to submit every time but just state your name and you will be in the system and our front desk ladies will be able to print your badge.

Thanks for your patience and cooperation as we keep your students safe!

Parent Orientations next Tuesday and Thursday!

Parent Orientation exists to give parents and teachers a time to discuss the goals, expectations, and operations of their specific classes. Teachers give brief presentations (approximately 15 minutes) introducing themselves, outlining the classroom schedule, the curriculum, discipline, goals for the year, and other items helpful to parents. There is also time provided throughout the evening when individual parents can speak with their child's teacher. If you have students in multiple grades, you may want to split up to attend all sessions.

In addition to teacher presentations, Mr. Goodbar will also talk with parents in the Middle School Science Classroom. The same presentation will be given during each of the time slots so parents can attend any of the three times that works with the schedule. Childcare is not provided.

Tuesday evening is the Kindergarten through 5th grade Parent Orientation night. The schedule is as follows:

Thursday evening is 6th-8th Grade Parent Orientation night. The evening begins at 6:30pm and concludes at 7:45pm. All presentations will take place in the Middle School Science Classroom
