Happy Friday SFX,

What a great first week back from break it’s been on campus! Our students have clearly taken our collective messaging to heart about finishing what has been a fantastic school year in a positive and intentional way. We’ve seen strong momentum in our classrooms, with students and staff diving right back into meaningful learning and engagement.

There’s a renewed energy on campus, and it’s exciting to see all the great things happening and still to come. We’re especially looking forward to the Spring Concert next week and all the moments of joy, growth, and community that lie ahead.

As a community rooted in faith, we also take time to honor the life and leadership of Pope Francis. His humble witness and call to live with joy, mercy, and compassion continue to shape the heart of who we are at SFX. May we be inspired to carry that same spirit forward in our words, actions, and care for one another.

Peace,

Ryan Watson

Spring Concert Friday

Ladies and gentlemen, cool cats and little kittens, welcome to this year’s Spring Concert, where we’re trading in lullabies for a little bebop and twinkle toes for some toe-tapping jazz! Our Preschool through 3rd grade performers are ready to swing their way to the stage with the timeless sounds of jazz music.

The performance will be in the Gym on Friday, May 2nd at 8:30 AM.

Dress: Spring Formal attire (no athletic attire or logos). Students may attend specials following the concert so a change of shoes might be necessary.

We are so excited to share all the music that the kids have been working so hard on!

Pilgrimage Trip

Led by Fr. Bob and Mrs. Westerfield, a group of school families, teachers, and parishioners went to Barcelona for Holy Week and followed in the footsteps of St. Ignatius, the founder of the Jesuits.

They visited places St. Ignatius lived and prayed at including: Montserrat where Ignatius left his his sword at the foot of the famous Black Madonna to begin his new life in Christ, the cave in Manresa where he lived and wrote the Spiritual Exercises, the Basilica of Santa Maria del Mar where he begged for alms, and the Cathedral of Barcelona where he prayed in the crypt of Saint Eulalia.

The group also visited famous sites in Barcelona including La Familia Sagrada where they had a private mass in the crypt under the altar next to the tomb of famed architect Anonio Gaudi, who Pope Francis had just venerated. Private masses were held in all these special places, and they were also able to attend the Palm Sunday procession.

The pastor of the Basilica invited Fr. Bob to concelebrate Holy Thursday mass and our students were invited to be part of the mass where they sat on the altar, participated in the washing of the feet, read the intentions, rang the bells and were part of the Holy Thursday procession. It was an incredible experience and a blessing for all who participated!
