Crowning of Mary

You are invited to join us in honouring our heavenly Mother at our annual Crowning of Mary ceremony on Friday, May 18th from 10:30 - 11:30 am in our school gym.

The event includes exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, a living rosary with reflections led by Fr. Michael O' Connor, songs, and our Kindergarten students presenting Mary with her crown of flowers.  All are invited to attend this beautiful devotion to honour our dear Blessed Mother.

ABOUT CROWNING MARY our MOTHER ...

From time immemorial Catholics have had the custom of paying special tribute to the Mother of God by placing a crown on her head. Whether richly decorated diadem or simple circlet of flowers, these crowns are earthly symbols of the fifth glorious mystery of the rosary in which we recall the Coronation of the Blessed Virgin in heaven.
This popular devotion has a special spiritual significance: the gift of oneself. The offering of the crown represents that act of placing oneself under the guidance and protection of the Mother of God that she may rule over our hearts.  Over the centuries the Sovereign Pontiffs have personally presided over such celebrations crowning statues of Our Lady at important Marian shrines and have richly endowed such occasions with blessings and notable indulgences.
Mother's Day Tea

We are pleased to announce that we hosted yet another amazing Mother's Day Tea to celebrate our dear Blessed Mother and all the Mothers, Grandmothers, and Godmothers at our school! This is our 22nd Mother's Day Tea, and each year, our staff are so happy to prepare treats for all to enjoy.  And what a turn out with 256 guests!
  • Thank you to Mrs. Kycak and Miss Kerner for sharing all their gifts and talents to make this amazing tea party.

  • Thank you our Grade 6 boys and girls for serving our special guests.
  • Thank you to our Grade 3 students for making special bookmarks using medals brought back from Rome by our Grade 11/12 pilgrims.
We can't wait until next year's event!

A parent survey went out via email on Thursday asking for feedback on the That's Amore... Fiesta! event.

Your feedback is valuable and, in an effort to better serve you, we ask that you please take a few minutes to complete the survey.

Thank you in advance!

High School Course

High School Course Selection Forms for the 2018-2019 school year were handed-out to our current Grade 9, 10 and 11 students on Monday, May 7th. Forms are to be completed, signed by parents, and returned to your child's homeroom teacher by Friday, May 18th.

If you have any questions about the course being offered next year, please do not hesitate to contact Mrs. Wachtler, Dean of Academics.

It's that time of year again! We are pleased to announce that the Elementary Literacy Week will take place from May 14th - 18th.

We have several fun literacy-themed activities planned for the week. One of our annual activities is for staff and students to dress up as their favourite book character. This year, we will be doing that again, but the students will have the choice to dress up as an idiom (i.e., raining cats and dogs, fit as a fiddle etc.), in jeans and a red shirt to show that they are well "read," or, as their favourite book character. The dress up day will be on Tuesday May 15th.

Additionally, if you or another family/community member are interested in volunteering to be a guest reader in your child's classroom during Literacy Week, please contact your child's teacher to set-up a time.

Finally, due to the availability of Athlone Hall, our annual Poetry Slam will not be taking place during Literacy Week, but will be on Thursday, May 31st, in the morning. Please save the date and watch for more information from your child's teacher! Happy Reading!
