Thank you to all who helped celebrate Emmy's Baptism! It was a beautiful day filled with joy. Thank you to everyone who helped prepare the food, decorate the hall and clean up afterwards. Tom and I feel so blessed to share our family with two wonderful congregations.

Town Hall Meeting

Sunday September 13

Join us for our Town Hall meeting during Coffee Hour Sunday September 13th. Rev. Megan and church leaders will be updating us on our strategic goals, and some exciting ideas for the future. We are looking for parishioner input and feedback. New members are strongly encouraged to attend.

Centering Prayer Retreat Day

Saturday, September 26

9am – 3pm in the Friendship Center

The Sacramento Area Chapter of Contemplative Outreach invites you to a day of quiet and renewal. We will practice centering prayer and lectio divina. There will be some teaching, community sharing, visioning. Join with centering prayer practitioners from our geographical area and receive support and encouragement. Walk the outside labyrinth during lunch break. Brief instruction in the method of centering prayer will be offered.

Rock the Block

West Sacramento

Friday & Saturday, October 9 & 10

St. Michaels will once again join Habitat for Humanity in assisting our West Sacramento neighbors improve their homes and community.  

Volunteer to be a member of St. Michael’s Rock the Block team.  As a member of the team, you will help revitalize an underserved community of low-income families, seniors, and Veterans. We will work on a variety of projects such as home repairs, planting community gardens, rebuilding fences, community landscaping/clean-up etc.

A Rock the Block workday begins with breakfast at 8:00am and concludes at 3:00pm. To volunteer please see Terry Bridges.

Sign up soon, we need to submit our team roster to Habitat for Humanity and have all our volunteers registered by September 15.

In addition to advocacy, The Episcopal Public Policy Network has a Witness Weekly Prayers offering for you to consider

Join us each week as we share new prayers for the vulnerable among us facing challenges, fears, and threats. We will name many of the harms unfolding and acknowledge what is being erased, lost, and threatened.

These prayers are not a replacement for action; they are meant to offer space for grounding and discernment as we seek to bear one another’s burdens in the love and way of Christ.

Join by Zoom each Monday at 11:45 a.m. ET / 8:45 a.m. PT to hear the prayers aloud, in the context of a simple liturgy, prayed by members of the Community of Francis and Clare.

Celebration of Life Services

We will be having a Celebration of Life Service for Lesle Rea on Friday, September 4, 2026 at 4pm at the church with a reception immediately following in the iMast courtyard area. Click here to read her full obituary.

There will be a Celebration of Life for Jane Samuelson on Saturday, September 12, 2026 at 11am at the church with a reception immediately following in the Parish Hall.

We will be having a Celebration of Life Service for Jim Dodds on Saturday, October 17, 2026 at 11am. More details will follow soon.

The Rt. Rev. Jerry Lamb

September 4, 1940 - July 25, 2026

It is with sadness, but with the hope of the resurrection, that we share that The Rt. Rev. Jerry Alban Lamb, former bishop of the Diocese of Northern California, died Saturday evening at his residence in Southern California.

Bishop Lamb served the Diocese as bishop for fourteen years, from 1992 - 2006.

Services will be held at Trinity Cathedral in Sacramento, Thursday, August 27 at 2:00pm. A livestream of the entire funeral service will be offered so that those who wish may participate individually or in local church groups.

Choral Masterworks

Mass #3 in f minor by Anton Bruckner

As the composer's birthday falls on September 4, it seems fitting that this week's Choral Masterpiece is Bruckner's crowning choral achievement. The Mass No. 3 in F minor, WAB 28, is a setting of the mass ordinary for vocal soloists, chorus and orchestra, and organ ad libitum, that Anton Bruckner composed in 1867–1868.

After the 1867 success of his Mass No. 1 in D minor, Bruckner was commissioned "to write a new Mass for the Burgkapelle". Bruckner wrote the first version between September 1867–1868 in Linz (just before his move to Vienna)

Prayers for Pregnant Women & Their Babies

We have an ongoing relationship with the Episcopal Sisters at the Order of Julian of Norwich monastery who pray daily for pregnant women and their babies. If you have name(s) of loved one(s) who are expecting that you would like to have included in the sisters' prayers, please email Fr. Rod.

Giving Thanks with Flowers!

You can remember your loved ones and celebrate important moments in your life with the gift of flowers to the church.  If you would like to give in this way, please let the office know and what you would like to give thanks for in the bulletin. You can send a check (or drop it off) to the office or pay on-line.  

Mercy and Social Justice Committee

The Mercy and Social Justice Committee exists to provide St. Michael’s parishioners with opportunities to share God’s love and justice.  We accomplish this by offering parishioners several ways to participate in outreach to our most vulnerable and marginalized neighbors. The Committee: Meets 7 – 8pm on the following evenings May 4th, June 1st, August 3rd, September 8th, and 

November 2nd. See Terry Bridges if you are interested in attending as a guest.

Name tags are available at Sunday morning check in's on the greeter cart. Please be sure to grab and wear your name tag before the service. If you are in need of a name tag please let the office know.
