Sunday June 7th Farewell Coffee Hour

Please join us on Sunday June 7 as we honor and bid farewell to Pastor Katie and the Holeman’s with a celebratory coffee hour. It has been a wonderful privilege welcoming Pastor Katie and her family these past four years and it has been under her skillful leadership that we have seen our Youth Acolyte Ministry return and take on a life of its own along with our Nursery and Godly Play program.

We will also be honoring Christine and Peter Saunders and family on June 7. Although we have only had them with us for this past year, their contributions to our weekly services in choir and through children homilies have been greatly appreciated. They will be joining John Cozza for some solo musical pieces during this service.

We look forward to the opportunity to celebrate both families. Please contact Sue Davis or Mary Ellen Ferguson if you would like to bring a dish to share and let them know what you plan to bring.

St. Michael's Annual Diaper Drive

Our 9th annual diaper drive benefitting the clients at River City Food bank runs through Father’s Day, June 14. Diapers are always a need for the food bank and a true blessing to the families who receive them. Sizes 3 and up are especially in demand but any size and brand are a great help for RCFB clients. Box(es) of diapers can be dropped in the baskets at the back of the church on Sundays or delivered to the church throughout the week during office hours. Checks or cash can be mailed or dropped in the collection plate on Sundays (please note Diapers in the memo) or online donations can be made below. As always thank you for your care and support for our neighbors in need.

St. Michael's Learn & Connect

Education for Ministry has two options

Education for Ministry (EfM) is a program of theological study provided by the School of Theology of the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee.

The study is done in a seminar class which meets once a week throughout the academic year, about 36 weeks, under the guidance of trained mentors. This is a small “community” of learners studying together.

There are two options for study:

EfM Classic

The 50-year-old program of four years, one year at a time, is rebranded as “EfM: Classic.” It is only offered, as it has always been, by accredited mentors. The four years are:

  • Year 1: Hebrew Scriptures (Old Testament)
  • Year 2: Christian Scriptures (New Testament)
  • Year 3: Church History
  • Year 4: Christian Ethics and Spirituality

EfM: Wide Angle

This new class is a 1 year offering for those who wish to have a “taste of all four years in one year.” Wide Angle participants join with the EfM: Classic group. EfM Wide Angle can only be offered by accredited mentors.

We are now recruiting for the 2026-2027 academic year. If you would like more information, please contact Janice Bowdler, janbowdler@comcast.net, or Ellen Cehand, harbawe1961@gmail.com

Choral Masterworks

by John Cozza, Music Director

Ave Verum Corpus, K. 618 by Mozart

Here is the anthem that the choir sang during Communion last Sunday, a late masterpiece by Mozart which turned out to be his last completed work. Ave verum corpus (Hail, true body), (K. 618), is a motet in D major composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in 1791. It is a setting of the Latin hymn Ave verum corpus. Mozart wrote it for Anton Stoll, a friend who was the church musician of St. Stephan in Baden bei Wien. The motet was composed for the feast of Corpus Christi; the autograph is dated 17 June 1791. It is scored for SATB choir, string instruments and organ.
