We will be celebrating the Baptism of Emerald Elizabeth Gartin on Saturday August 22 at 11am here at St. Michael’s in a joint church service with St. Michael’s and Faith Episcopal Church congregations. This will be a full baptismal service with a eucharist and a potluck reception immediately following in Parish and Johnstone Hall. Centering Prayer Retreat Day

9am – 3pm in the Friendship Center

The Sacramento Area Chapter of Contemplative Outreach invites you to a day of quiet and renewal. We will practice centering prayer and lectio divina. There will be some teaching, community sharing, visioning. Join with centering prayer practitioners from our geographical area and receive support and encouragement. Walk the outside labyrinth during lunch break. Brief instruction in the method of centering prayer will be offered.

Backpack Blessings



Thank you for all your donations to the Starr King TK-8 Backpack Drive! On Sunday August 9th we blessed the backpacks for the teachers and students. 

St. Michael's Church Scholarships to

High School Graduates

On August 2nd, St. Michael's awarded 4 college scholarships to members, or family of members of St. Michael's Church. This is something we have been doing for some twenty years.

In the academic year 2027-28, the scholarship committee is undertaking a remodeling of the scholarships of the past. We plan to open it up to graduating students of El Camino High School - and particularly former Starr King students. This new offering presents an exciting challenge to our existing Scholarship Committee - comprising Laura Quene, Warner Seargeant, Sue Corbin, John Rojek, Dorothy Eddings, Marilu Fresquez and Holly Yue. We invite you to prayerfully consider joining the Scholarship Committee. Contact Michelle or Laura.

CELEBRATION OF LIFE THANKS

The past few weeks have been exhausting both mentally and physically for all of us.

It is time to say Thank You to everyone who had a part in making these

memorials successful and meaningful for the families. Names will not be mentioned but hopefully you know who are. You made phone calls, brought food, set up the Parish Hall, Johnstone Hall, made flower arrangements and washed dishes, the list goes on.

What a caring community we have! God bless all of you.

The Rt. Rev. Jerry Lamb

September 4, 1940 - July 25, 2026

It is with sadness, but with the hope of the resurrection, that we share that The Rt. Rev. Jerry Alban Lamb, former bishop of the Diocese of Northern California, died Saturday evening at his residence in Southern California.

Bishop Lamb served the Diocese as bishop for fourteen years, from 1992 - 2006.

Services will be held at Trinity Cathedral in Sacramento, Thursday, August 27 at 2:00pm. A livestream of the entire funeral service will be offered so that those who wish may participate individually or in local church groups.

"Great" Mass in c minor, K. 427 by Mozart

Great Mass in C minor (German: Große Messe in c-Moll), K. 427/417a, is the common name of the musical setting of the mass by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and considered one of his greatest works. He composed it in Vienna in 1782 and 1783 after his marriage when he moved to Vienna from Salzburg. This large-scale work, a missa solemnis, is scored for two soprano soloists, a tenor and a bass, double chorus and large orchestra.

Prayers for Pregnant Women & Their Babies

We have an ongoing relationship with the Episcopal Sisters at the Order of Julian of Norwich monastery who pray daily for pregnant women and their babies. If you have name(s) of loved one(s) who are expecting that you would like to have included in the sisters' prayers, please email Fr. Rod.

Giving Thanks with Flowers!

You can remember your loved ones and celebrate important moments in your life with the gift of flowers to the church.  If you would like to give in this way, please let the office know and what you would like to give thanks for in the bulletin. You can send a check (or drop it off) to the office or pay on-line.  

Mercy and Social Justice Committee

The Mercy and Social Justice Committee exists to provide St. Michael’s parishioners with opportunities to share God’s love and justice.  We accomplish this by offering parishioners several ways to participate in outreach to our most vulnerable and marginalized neighbors. The Committee: Meets 7 – 8pm on the following evenings May 4th, June 1st, August 3rd, September 8th, and 

November 2nd. See Terry Bridges if you are interested in attending as a guest.

Name tags are available at Sunday morning check in's on the greeter cart. Please be sure to grab and wear your name tag before the service. If you are in need of a name tag please let the office know.
