Scam Email Alert

We have been alerted to a couple new scam emails that have been circulating. One that has been targeting parishioners and appears to be coming from another parishioner asking about Amazon usage. The other asking for a pdf version of the church directory. Please be on the alert of these new attempts going around.

St. Michael's Annual Diaper Drive

Sunday May 11 - June 15th

Mark your calendar! Our 8th annual diaper drive benefitting the clients at River City Food bank will run Mother’s Day, May 11 - Father’s Day, June 15. Diapers are always a need for the food bank and a true blessing to the families who receive them. Sizes 3 and up are especially in demand but any size and brand are a great help for RCFB clients. Box(es) of diapers can be dropped in the baskets at the back of the church on Sundays or delivered to the church throughout the week during office hours. Checks or cash can be mailed or dropped in the collection plate on Sundays (please note Diapers in the memo) or online donations can be made below. As always thank you for your care and support for our neighbors in need.

The Meals we packed have been shipped!

The meals we packaged at our Rise Against Hunger Event this spring were shipped to the Philippines. Rise Against Hunger partners with organizations providing meals in educational settings that support health and livelihood training. The meals we packaged will help ensure the people of the Philippines have access to the consistent nourishment they need to live healthy lives, while also creating opportunities to learn valuable skills and trades that will serve their families for years to come. Thank you to all who participated in this wonderful event! We look forward to hosting another event next year.

Contact Rev. Andy with questions.

Piano Meditation

by John Cozza, Music Director

Brahms--Intermezzo in E-flat, Op. 117/i

Sharing the May 7 birthday of last week's composer Tchaikovsky is the German/adopted Austrian composer Johannes Brahms. Here is one of my very favorite works for piano, written in a burst of creative energy after Brahms had unofficially "retired" from composition, along with the other short gems of Op. 116-119. Composed in 1892-3 in the last years of Brahms' life, these pieces are infused with a lonely sense of deep introspection. Above the score of this Intermezzo Brahms placed these words of the poet Herder's Scottish Folk Songs: "Sleep softly my child, sleep softly and beautifully. It grieves me so to see you weep."
