St. Michael's Stewardship
New Beginnings
| | |
How can anyone ever top David Daigh and his stewardship talk of "I up’ed mine, so up yours?" But in all reality in this season of Stewardship I invite us all to take a big picture view of the wonderful work St. Michael’s church has been a part of over the past few years. I have had the pleasure of serving in many congregations and contexts, but none so invested in the community. I can also say that St. Michael’s lives beyond the four walls of our church in many ways. Where some say they would like to do the work and can’t, St. Michael's people live into being community, which is something special and not to be glanced over. In this season we invite you to contemplate and reflect on how you are being called to pledge this year.
In this new season of who and where St. Michael’s is called to be, there is so much hope and joy. We are embarking on this new journey with Rev. Megan, Christine as the new head of the day school, and a clergy as well as staff that are fully engaged in looking towards how it is we can be the hand and feet of Christ, not only with our words, but with our actions.
I will give you a brief story. We have a little one, from the school, who reached out and asked to be baptized at St. Michael’s. Meeting with the family and little girl I learned about the ways this child, as well as her siblings and parents, have been supported in their faith by St. Michael’s church. Did you all know that your actions had such an impact? We normally never get to see the results of our actions, but they matter.
We are doing the good work folks.
Friends, I invite us all to think of this stewardship drive, not as simply keeping the lights on, which we do need to do, but also how are we continuing to be the hands and feet far beyond our four walls, and continuing to care for those in our midst.
St. Michael’s Ingathering Sunday
Join us October 26 at 10am for our ingathering Sunday wrapping up this year’s Stewardship. We will gather in Johnstone and Parish Hall immediately following the service for a luncheon. All are welcome.

The Episcopal Church News
Presiding Bishop Sean Rowe congratulates new Archbishop of Canterbury
| |
I am very pleased at the news that Bishop Sarah Mullally, who has served as bishop of London since 2018, has been named the 106th Archbishop of Canterbury. She will be the first woman to hold the role, which was established more than 1,400 years ago.
Bishop Sarah is known in the Church of England as a wise and steady leader, a faithful advocate for the leadership of women in the church, and a bishop who will be committed to safeguarding vulnerable people and victims of abuse. She is a former nurse who served as the government’s chief nursing officer for England and has dedicated her vocational life to serving those in need. Earlier today, when asked about her two careers, she said, “I prefer to think that I have always had one vocation: to follow Jesus Christ.” Read full article...
