St. Michael's Reads the Gospels
Led by Dawn & Tyson Wright
Continues every Tuesday at 6:30pm on Zoom
You are invited to read the gospels (and the Epistle of James) together. We want to spend time with our Friend Jesus, watching how he acts, listening to what he says, thinking about his teachings and what he shows and tells us about God and His Kingdom.
We've created a reading plan, which you can pick up from the ushers desk in the back of the sanctuary or in the office. This reading plan is designed to be done on your own, but it can also be fun to discuss what you are reading with a group. Join in our gospel discussion group on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM at our special Bible discussion Zoom meeting.
| | Thursday Open Bible Study Hybrid starts September 11. We meet at 10am on Thursdays in the Friendship Room and by Zoom. We read all 4 Scriptures that will be read on the following Sunday. This allows us to study the background of each Scripture and what it meant for the original hearers. We discover what it means to us. Discussion format is used where everyone can express their ideas. Ending time is 11:30am. Come join us. For more information, please email the office at st.michaels@stmichaelscarmichael.org. | | |

When you come you will receive individual or group prayer with laying on of hands, meditation on God’s promise of healing and hope, the opportunity to share burdens in a confidential, non-judgmental setting, compassionate listening, and rest in God’s presence through quiet reflection. If you are carrying pain, illness, grief or anxiety, or a deeper faith in God’s healing power please consider joining us at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church for Healing Circles.

Choral Masterwork by John Cozza
Sunrise Mass by Ola Gjielo
The Offertory Anthem sang last Sunday, "The Ground" by Norwegian composer Ola Gjielo, is taken from his Sunrise Mass. Gjeilo was born on May 5, 1978, to Inge and Anne-May Gjeilo, and grew up in Skui, Norway. He began playing piano and composing when he was five years old and learned to read music when he was seven years old. Gjeilo studied classical composition with Wolfgang Plagge. In his undergraduate career, Gjeilo studied at the Norwegian Academy of Music (1999–2001), transferred to the Juilliard School (2001), and studied at the Royal College of Music, London (2002–2004) to receive a bachelor's degree in composition. He continued his education at Juilliard (2004–06) where he received his master's degree in 2006, also in composition. From 2009–10, Gjeilo was composer-in-residence for Phoenix Chorale.
He currently resides in Manhattan, working as a freelance composer.
