Easter Gift Cards!

We are asking for donations to buy Food Gift Cards to help those in need have a special Easter meal. If you are giving by check, please write “Food Gift Card" in the memo. You can also give online or put cash in an envelope (you can find these in the pew pockets), mark it with "Food Gift Card" and put it in the plate on Sunday. Please have your donations to the church or office by Sunday April 6.

Your donations will buy Safeway gift cards that will be distributed at River City Food Bank and The Center at St. Matthew’s. Easter is a wonderful time for us to give in thanksgiving for God's blessings and forgiveness. For more information please contact Terry Bridges at terrycbridges@gmail.com or the Office

Mardi Gras Fundraiser Results

THE NUMBERS ARE IN!! Give yourselves a big pat on the back. Not only did we have a great party celebrating Madri Gras on Feb. 22, but we raised - drumroll please - $31,700!!!  This includes the Fund the Need Match of $2,500, and additional donations from folks who did not attend the event of $8,250. We had 17 sign-up parties that raised over $10,000. What a statement you have all made to continue the work of St. Michael's in our community and in the world.

EYEGLASS COLLECTION FOR GHANA

Dorothy Eddings, along with Bishop Wright and 22 others from the Diocese of Atlanta are making a pilgrimage to Ghana. Because of the prevalence of Glaucoma, which often goes undetected, they are taking EYEGLASSES to Ghana.

Please go through your house and bring eyeglasses that you no longer use to church and place them in the drawer in the narthex. We need to ship them to Dorothy on April 14.

Saturday March 29th, 12 - 2pm

Come pack meal bags that reach hungry people throughout the world. It is a very fun event and a great opportunity to gather as community to do something for those in need. Last year we packed over 10,000 meals that went to support those in need in Philippines.

We have reached our goal of 70 volunteers but you can still sign up to be a part of this fun event! Please sign up on their website. If you have questions or need help please contact the office. If you are willing to help with set up or clean up please let us know!

Gethsemane Watch

In your preparation for Easter, consider participating in the Gethsemane Watch. The watch represents the time Jesus is in the Garden of Gethsemane wanting the disciples to stay awake with him. It begins immediately following the Maundy Thursday Service and concludes at the start of the Good Friday 8:30am Stations of the Cross. The watch takes place in the Columbarium and it is a time of silence. Spiritual books and writings will be available. Please consider "sitting in the garden" to watch and pray with Jesus.

Please note that more than one or two can sign up for any given time and it is preferable for there to be at least two people per slot in the wee hours of the night. Sign up on the board in the narthex on Sundays.

Upcoming Celebration of Life Services

We will be having a Celebration of life service for Peggy Henley on Saturday, April 26, 2025 at 10am at the church with a light reception immediately following.

Piano Meditation

by John Cozza, Music Director

Organ Prelude in b minor by Bach, arr. Siloti

Here is a piece whose mood is very appropriate to the Lenten season:  the Organ Prelude in g minor by J.S. Bach, transcribed/arranged for piano by Alexander Siloti. Siloti was a pupil of Franz Liszt, professor at the Moscow Conservatory in the early 20th Century, and most famously, Sergei Rachmaninov's cousin! This transcription is dedicated to his daughter Kyriena. I hope hauntingly beautiful work this provides some peaceful accompaniment to your Lenten meditations.

Rereading Lent:

New Reflections on a Storied Season

11:45am in Friendship Center (in-person only)

In this year's Lenten series, Rev. Andy and Marilyn McEntyre will be leading reflections on the purposes and themes of the season, the ways we can reclaim ancient words for our own historical moment, and the question of how to read--and reread-- biblical stories. We meet on the Sundays of Lent in the Friendship Center at 11:45am. Each week we'll focus on a theme (Listening on March 16, Solitude on March 23, Repentance on March 30 and Imagination on April 6), a few passages of scripture, and the ways those stories summon us now. We look forward to the conversation! Please contact Rev. Andy with questions.

Living Compass - Cultivating the Fruit of the Spirit

Lent is a time for introspection and self-reflection, a time to reflect on what it means to live a Christian life in the midst of great change and uncertainty. As we cultivate the fruit of the Spirit over the next forty days, we have a powerful opportunity to make our faith the central compass that guides life, helping us receive and share God’s transformative love.

The Living Compass Lenten booklets are available, free of cost, at the church. We will not have a weekly group this season however there are multiple other ways you can engage with this material through Living Compass at https://www.livingcompass.org/lent
