Following last weekend’s U.S. military attack on Venezuela and the removal of President Nicholás Maduro from office, Episcopal leaders have released statements calling for prayers and peace in the South American country. They expressed both support for Venezuelans celebrating Maduro’s removal and concern over the legality of the attack.

FAKE Searching for truth in the age of misinformation

Sunday February 1, 2026

Please join us for our next Dinner & Documentary session on Sunday, February 1, 2026, where we will view FAKE. This PBS documentary focuses on how the average person can decipher fact from fiction in the current times where the sheer volume of news available can be overwhelming. This series draws from common sense, critical thinking skills, and universal standards of journalism to give viewers the tools to discern fact from fiction in news reports, identify fake news, and evaluate the biases of real news.

As we resume gathering once a month for a dinner and documentary evening, we’d like to hear from those of you who are interested in coming when you can. Please complete the survey HERE to insure these evenings will serve both your own sense of purpose and the common good. Our next scheduled Dinner & Documentary date will be March 1 focusing on two short documentaries about immigration, deportation and sanctuary.

Choral Masterworks by John Cozza

Sie werden aus Saba alle kommen ("They will all come from Sheba"), BWV 65 by Bach

This week's choral masterpiece is one of Bach's cantatas for the Feast of the Epiphany.  He composed it in 1724 in Leipzig for Epiphany and first performed it on 6 January 1724 as part of his first cantata cycle. To illustrate the exotic visitors from the East, Bach "employs high horns to convey majesty and antiquity, recorders to represent the high pitches often associated with oriental music and the oboes da caccia to evoke the shawm-like double reed instruments of the Near East. Bach never came up with anything more pageant-like and eastern in atmosphere than the opening chorus." (conductor John Eliot Gardiner)
