EASTER BREAKFAST
Plans are underway for our annual Easter breakfast. A signup board is located in the Narthex. Items needed include coffee cakes, breakfast breads, fruit trays, egg casseroles, etc. We will also need many hands to make this event run smoothly. Please consider signing up to help, and plan to bring your family and friends for delicious food and Christian fellowship on Easter morning. Breakfast will be served from 9:00-10:30 in the gymnasium. Please contact Nancy Mayor at nancy.mayor@gmail.com if you have any questions. Thank you in advance!
| | | Lenten Devotionals are now available. You may pick up a copy in the Narthex at the Information Center or in the church office. | |
The Boards of Evangelism and Caring Ministries present Little Jesus.
As many of you may know, Little Jesus is "trending" now a days.
We will be handing them out after church on Easter Sunday. Take a few and place them on grocery shelves, hand them to a flight attendant or wait staff at your favorite restaurant, or leave them somewhere he will be seen and hopefully picked up. You can also give a few to family and friends.
We should not hide Jesus but put him in places you would not expect to find him. Everyone "needs a little Jesus." He can act as a daily reminder that Jesus is with us, He is always present, and He loves us. No one should leave the church without a few.

Plant Sale Volunteers Needed
May 9th & 10th
The Annual St. John's Plant Sale is coming up on May 9th. We need adult volunteers on the day of the sale. We use the 8th graders on Friday as helpers, but we also need adults. You could help in many ways:
- Unload the trucks beginning at 6:00am.
- Help sort pre-orders before the sale from 8:00am to about 9:45am.
- Serve as a cashier any time after 9:45am for a couple of hours.
- Help inside the church directing students to take plants to customers' cars in 2-hour shifts after 10:00am.
- Help bring in unsold plants on Friday evening at about 4:30pm.
- Help on Saturday, May 10th, from 7:45am until the pre-orders and the majority of the plants are gone.
If you are willing to volunteer your time to help during the Plant Sale, please use the button below to access the signup genius. Any questions, please email: school@stjohnslagrange.org. Many hands make light work, and we have lots of fun.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Save the Date Lutherans For Life of Illinois Life Event
Dear Friends in Christ,
Caregivers get tired. Pastors and others see this and wonder how the church can help. Laws are passed in our state that put elderly and disabled people at risk. Lutherans see it and wonder how they might better deal with it. Children find themselves in unsafe conditions and are placed in foster care. Christian foster parents make a valiant effort to bring the healing love of Jesus into the lives of these children. How can the church help? Couples find themselves facing a surprise pregnancy and feel isolated with their "problem." How can the church come alongside with the love of Jesus and encouragement?
These are the questions that prompted our lineup of presentations for the upcoming Lutherans For Life of Illinois statewide Life Event. You are invited to join us as we explore these issues together on August 23rd, 2025, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Auburn, Illinois.
Yours in Jesus,
Lutherans For Life of Illinois

What is the St. John’s School Annual Fund?
Students at St. John’s are very blessed to have the support of this congregation.
The costs above and beyond tuition are borne by the members of this church.
In an effort to support families who wish to give their children a Christian education, we have instituted the School Annual Fund. We encourage donations to this fund in order to continue to provide a school that is a light in the community.
Money given for this purpose is really an investment in young Christian lives, so we thank you for any contribution, regardless of the size.

Christian stewardship in action
Do you know that praying to our Heavenly Father to intercede for someone else is an act of personal stewardship? Do you know that God listens and blesses those prayers? We are confident that He does because we read in Holy Scriptures, James 5:16, “The effective fervent prayer of a righteous person availeth much.” KJV
Watch the ‘Temple Talk’ video on Sunday to hear about Ethel Stodden (now in Heaven), a true prayer warrior, who during her life blessed all the members at St. John’s with her fervent prayers.

Do you enjoy fresh flowers? Each week the altar is beautified with fresh flowers given by individuals of St. John’s congregation. Flowers may be given in memory or in honor of someone or some occasion, in thanksgiving of something or to the Glory of God. The flowers may be taken home after the Sunday
services for you to enjoy at home or perhaps share with a loved one or someone you wish to share an invitation to worship at St. John’s. The Flower Chart for 2024 is posted in the narthex on the left brick pillar as you walk into the sanctuary. Flowers are $55 for two arrangements. If you wish to sign up for a particular Sunday and someone else has already signed up, we invite you to sign up in addition to another person giving flowers – you can split the $55 cost with the person signed up or purchase an additional two arrangements for $55. Multiple floral arrangements to beautify the altar are always welcome! A member of the Altar Guild will contact you in advance for your dedication.
