(Holiday hours may vary)

Join us this Sunday, March 30th, between services for our voters meeting.

A voters meeting for members of St. John’s Church will take place between worship services on Sunday, March 30th. The meeting will start at approximately 9:15am.

The Board of Education for St. John’s School and the Church Coordinating Council have revised the earlier recommendation regarding St. John’s School. The revised proposal is for the preschool and kindergarten to continue to operate for the 2025-2026 school year, contingent upon the “Keep Our School” task force meeting certain governing conditions.

You must attend in person to vote

EASTER BREAKFAST

Plans are underway for our annual Easter breakfast. A signup board is located in the Narthex. Items needed include coffee cakes, breakfast breads, fruit trays, egg casseroles, etc. We will also need many hands to make this event run smoothly. Please consider signing up to help, and plan to bring your family and friends for delicious food and Christian fellowship on Easter morning. Breakfast will be served from 9:00-10:30 in the gymnasium. Please contact Nancy Mayor at nancy.mayor@gmail.com if you have any questions. Thank you in advance!

Lenten Devotionals are now available. You may pick up a copy in the Narthex at the Information Center or in the church office.

Throughout Lent, as Easter approaches, we remember Jesus’ sacrifice for us on Good Friday and His resurrection on Easter that we may have eternal life with Him. On Easter Sunday, Easter Lilies are placed on the Altar in celebration of our Savior’s resurrection. Traditionally, Easter Lilies symbolize the death and resurrection of Jesus - the Easter Lily is a bulb that is buried and cultivated for three years before blooming with a white lily flower representing Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection. The white color of the lily represents the purity of Jesus’ life on earth. Please consider purchasing an Easter Lily to beautify the sanctuary on Easter Sunday and in thanksgiving for the gift of eternal life. A member of the Altar Guild will be in the narthex taking orders for lilies after each Sunday service on March 30 and April 6. The price per lily is $16.00 and payment is due at the time of order. April 6 is the final day to order an Easter Lily. Easter Lilies may be taken after the Easter services. If you choose to leave your lily, it will be planted on church property by the Garden Angels to bloom in future years.

Thank you, thank you, thank you to those who donated blood on Thursday, March 27th, for the Versiti blood drive!  You are a Beacon of Hope for your community, and you deserve to feel proud of your amazing achievement!

Your incredible kindness and commitment helped us replenish our blood supply (especially of type O blood, the preferred transfusion type in emergencies), which will help local patients of all ethnic backgrounds enjoy more time with their families!

You may submit a paper order form, or you may place your order via the online order form. Paper forms are available in the school office and in the church narthex. The online order form is accessible via the button below:

SCHOOL NEWS

What is the St. John’s School Annual Fund?

Students at St. John’s are very blessed to have the support of this congregation.

The costs above and beyond tuition are borne by the members of this Church.

In an effort to support more families who wish to give their children a Christian education, the School has instituted the School Annual Fund.

Money given for this purpose is really an investment in young Christian lives, so we thank you for any contribution, regardless of the size.

CHURCH OPPORTUNITIES

Stewardship Thought :

One definition of Christian Stewardship is “the free and joyous activity of God’s family—the church—in managing life’s resources for His purposes.” The Board of Stewardship looks forward to providing St. John’s Congregation with education and ideas on managing best what God has entrusted to us to thank Him for His lavish gifts.

"Good Steward" member nominations should be sent to Mim Roth, Stewardship Chairperson, at mim191937@icloud.com

Partners in Prayer will meet on the following Saturdays at 8 a.m. in the St. John's Church parking lot: March 22nd

Please come to pray for St. John's Church and School on any of the prayer dates above as we "devote ourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful" (Colossians 4:2)

Please contact Vicki Wykert (708-408-2759) or email at v.wykert@stjohnslagrange.org with questions.

Sign up for a great fellowship opportunity by serving coffee and providing tasty treats in between church services

Do you enjoy fresh flowers? Each week the altar is beautified with fresh flowers given by individuals of St. John’s congregation. Flowers may be given in memory or in honor of someone or some occasion, in thanksgiving of something or to the Glory of God. The flowers may be taken home after the Sunday

services for you to enjoy at home or perhaps share with a loved one or someone you wish to share an invitation to worship at St. John’s. The Flower Chart for 2024 is posted in the narthex on the left brick pillar as you walk into the sanctuary.   Flowers are $55 for two arrangements. If you wish to sign up for a particular Sunday and someone else has already signed up, we invite you to sign up in addition to another person giving flowers – you can split the $55 cost with the person signed up or purchase an additional two arrangements for $55. Multiple floral arrangements to beautify the altar are always welcome! A member of the Altar Guild will contact you in advance for your dedication.

Please let us know if you can help!
