Justice and Witness Team Hosting Zoom Tomorrow

On behalf of the Justice & Witness Ministry team of our conference, we invite you to a zoom meeting during the lunch hour TOMORROW October 16th, over the lunch hour which will open up space for connection, support, and peace in a time of heightened political anxiety.

The meeting will begin at 12 pm for about 75 minutes.

With the upcoming general election, we understand that a number of justice matters pertaining to our collective faith are on the ballot. As such, we simply want to open space for people to support one another, hear some words from scripture, and pray. Feel free to bring your lunch to the zoom meeting; come as you are. Come for community. Come for solace.

With hope, always,

Rev. Sa.M. Holland on behalf of your Justice and Witness Ministry team

RESOLUTION: Peace with Justice Advocates

The Resolution to be voted on at the Annual Meeting, “A Lamentation and Call to Congregations for Discussion and Action about Gun Violence Prevention was developed by the Peace with Justice Advocates Mission Group of the NHCUCC.

It is a lamentation and a call to the congregations of the Conference to mourn with the countless communities and families that have suffered terrible losses every year due to gun violence.

The churches of the Conference are called to become informed, discuss and be active regarding issues of guns in our communities and prevention of gun violence, for the purpose of taking actions toward preventing that violence, both individually and as organizations as consistent with our faith and practice as Christians. With nearly 43,000 Americans taken from us by gun violence in 2023, including over 650 mass shootings, as Christians we cannot stand idly by.

The Resolution’s accompanying 56 pages of Resources are intended to equip churches with the tools needed to become informed, for discussion and to take action. This document includes a   6 session discussion guide. On Tuesday October 22nd, this resolution is the topic of a pre-annual Connecting Session hosted by the Peace with Justice Advocates Mission Group.

ACROSS THE CONFERENCE

October 20th is Ukama Sunday, the day on which we recognize the founding of Mt. Selinda Missionary Station in 1893 and celebrate our ongoing relationship with the United Church of Christ in Zimbabwe.  Resources for worship can be found at the bottom of the UMG Page of the Conference Website.

REMEMBER IN YOUR PRAYERS

-Our 'Hama' - Our Family In Zimbabwe

As we anticipate our Ukama Sunday on October 20, we lift up our thanksgiving for our ‘hama’, our family in Zimbabwe. We celebrate the decades of friendship, caring and ministry we have engaged in together through our partnership. We ask that you, the Spirit that connects us, that holds us fast across continents and oceans, might be with the United Church of Christ in Zimbabwe as they spread your message of hope through their churches and ministries. Holy One, may you bless our relationship and lead us ever forward through your love and grace…

-Rev. Reneé Rouse and her children Asya and Franklin for healing and peace as they continue to recover from their injuries after being hit by a car when crossing the road.
