Welcome Cara!

On Sunday, May 5, we welcome Cara as our sixth rector. Cara will celebrate Holy Eucharist at both the 7:45 and 10:00 am services. Please join us at one of our services and invite others to be with us, especially members of St. Christopher’s who recently have been absent from our midst.

Cara and her family look forward to meeting you during Common Grounds at 9:00 am in the Andres Library. Faith Formation Ministry members will be offering coffee and juices. All members of St. Christopher’s, whether regular attendees at Common Grounds or not, are welcome to attend.

After the 10:00 am service, the Search Committee will host a festive Cinco de Mayo coffee hour celebration to welcome Cara, her husband, Michael, and their sons, Riley and Aden. All members and guests are warmly invited and encouraged to join the celebration.

All members of the parish and guests are invited to "Getting to Know You" sessions on Sundays, May 12 and 19, at 9:00 am during Common Grounds. On May 12, we will have round one of “Getting to Know You” during which Cara will talk with us about herself, share her experiences in the church, and respond to questions. On May 19, we will have round two of “Getting to Know You" during which Cara will flip the direction of the questions. She will be asking those gathered questions about who we are and where we've been, individually and as a parish community. This gathering will be in the Parish Hall.

Garden Preparation Day
Saturday, May 4, 9:00 am

Join us in the garden! The work will last until all tasks are completed in anticipation of Planting Day on Sunday, May 19. Tasks for this Saturday include cleaning the beds, tilling the soil, and installing trellis pieces for our cucumbers and beans. No special skills are required to help, just the willingness to Get Dirty for Goodness Sake!

Wear comfortable clothes and bring garden gloves or your favorite tools if you wish. There is nothing quite like turning the soil after its long winter’s rest and this step is critical before we plant seeds and seedlings. Refreshments and water will be served, so do plan to lend a helping hand to the feeding ministry of St. Christopher’s Crops. We need you!
Youth News and Dates for May

We are excited about youth events in May. On Sunday, May 5, there will be no formation so that youth can join in welcoming Rev. Cara and her family at the Cinco de Mayo coffee hour. We will not have Youth Formation on Mother's Day, May 12, so everyone can celebrate with their families. The last day of formation for the school year will be May 19. The older students will take on a mentoring role for the fifth graders who will be joining youth group! They will host a fun morning and show them the youth lounge and answer questions. The fifth graders are also welcome to join youth group that evening from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the church.

Please save May 19 on your calendar for a fun evening introducing Rev. Cara to the church and Indy with a racing-themed party and a scavenger hunt around the church. More details to come soon!
The Daughters of the King
Saturday, May 11, 10:00 am

The Daughters of the King will end their program year with a celebration of Holy Eucharist and The Service of Rededication in the chapel. The Rev Dr. Larry Walters will be the celebrant. All women of St. Christopher's are welcome to attend this meeting of DOK.
Carmel Youth Assistance Summer Meal Program
(Formerly the Summer Lunch Program)

Sunday, May 12, Mother's Day, stop by our display and see how you might find an opportunity to join us in this very rewarding ministry. This will be the third year that St. Christopher's will be a distribution site for the Carmel Youth Assistance Summer Meal Program.

Please start thinking of ways that you can get involved this summer to help with this effort. This summer the program will begin on Sunday, June 2, and end on Sunday, August 4.

Please note: If you decide to sponsor a child ALL checks must be made to Carmel Youth Assistance with Summer Meal Program in the memo line.
Attention Parents of Graduating Seniors

We want to recognize all in our community who are graduating from high school or college this spring. Please send a digital file of their senior picture. We will publish this information on our message boards and in The Weekly News. If your student is an acolyte, please also include the number of years they have served. Please provide this information by May 12.
