Backpack Blessing
Sunday, August 12

Start the program year off right on Sunday, August 12, at the 10:00 am service. Bring your backpack to church to be blessed. The Backpack Blessing isn't just for kids. If you are no longer a student, bring your briefcase or work bag. We will pray not only for the children and teens who are returning to school, but the teachers and other adults whose work blesses our community.

PLEASE NOTE: We ask that you arrive five to ten minutes earlier than you usually do and place the backpacks around the altar BEFORE children go to Godly Play. The children will rejoin us during the Peace. Father Stephen will gather the children for the blessing before we begin the Eucharist.
Rally Day / Parish Picnic
Sunday, August 19
Following the 10:00 am Service

Join us for a picnic in the Parish Hall. Please plan to dress in “picnic wear” for church that day. Weather permitting, we’ll open the doors to the lawn on the Main Street side of the Parish Hall and enjoy food, fellowship, and fun together.

Cindy Anderson-Clark has gathered a crew to help manage the kitchen. The St. Christopher’s 4Cs Men’s Group have agreed to grill the hamburgers and hot dogs, which will be provided along with buns, “the fixin’s,” and condiments. Coffee and drinks also will be provided. There’s a suggested donation of $5 per person/$10 per family to help defray the cost of the meat. The nursery won’t be staffed, but it will be open so younger children have a place to play.

Members and friends are invited to bring picnic food to share: A-I – salads (green, potato, fruit, or jello); J-Q – baked beans, finger foods, sweet corn, vegetarian casseroles; R-Z – desserts!

Are you missing Waldo?

Perhaps there are parishioners who, like the hard-to-find Waldo, haven’t been seen for awhile. Please let us know who is missing. There is a small white treasure chest in the narthex into which you can place names of our much-treasured missing parishioners. The little treasure chest is also a good place to put your prayer requests. Note paper is provided for you.
Welcome, Boy Scout Troop 132

On Monday evening, approximately 40 Boy Scouts of Troop 132 made a transition trek from their previous home at Carmel Friends Church to St. Christopher's. They were joined by ten adult leaders. The troop will be meeting under the auspices of the Kiwanis Club of Carmel which uses our facilities for their meetings.
Ministry Fair

Parishioners and Friends of St. Christopher’s are invited to take part in a Ministry Fair on Sunday, August 26, in the Parish Hall following the 10:00 am service. Come learn about all the ways we serve in Christ’s name.

Please put the Ministry Fair on your calendar now and join us on August 26!
Attention Youth Parents

We begin the 2018-2019 program year for Youth Formation and Youth Group as schools in our area begin classes. It's time to ensure that we have current contact information, permissions, releases, and commitments for all our youth in middle school and high school. Please sit down with your teens, go through the form - including the covenant - together. Please complete and sign the form online by August 26 using the link below.

Transportation Network

Sue Blase, our Parish Nurse, is setting up a transportation network as part of our pastoral care offerings. The purpose is to assist people who would like to attend Sunday worship services and other activities here at St. Christopher's but are unable to drive. Sue is seeking to identify parishioners who are over 21 years of age with a current driver's license who are willing to help with the network. Some parishioners already are transporting individuals to attend Sunday morning services. If you are one of these drivers, please provide your name to Sue. If you are unable to drive one weekend, she will attempt to find a substitute.

Sue also needs to identify those who need a ride. If you (or someone you know) is in need of transportation, please contact Sue. If you use a walker, please know how to collapse it. You must be able to stand up by yourself without requiring assistance.

Sue will have a booth at the Ministry Fair on August 26. Whether you are a potential driver or a person needing transportation, please stop and speak with her. This will be a good opportunity to get answers to your questions about the transportation network. If you do not plan to attend the Ministry Fair and want more information, please send an email to Sue with your name, address, and contact information.
Enjoy taking pictures?

We've grown and so has the need for multiple photographers to capture all we are doing! We are in need of someone to take pictures during the Backpack Blessing on August 12, after the 10:00 am service on August 19, and at the Ministry Fair on Sunday, August 26.
