Here is a letter received with an update on Pastor Livenson:
Dear Haiti Team and Global Mission Table,
I had a brief telephone conversation with Pastor Livenson yesterday. As I am sure you recall, he has had significant health challenges involving the appendix, gallbladder and liver. Several individuals donated to a fund created by Emmanuel Lutheran in Venice and over $5000 was raised to help cover his medical expenses. Pastor Livenson is deeply grateful for this support. He is back in Haiti to access these funds, and anticipates returning to the DR for tests and likely surgery to remove both the appendix and gallbladder. Meanwhile, he is grateful that there has been some improvement over the excruciating pain he experienced a few weeks ago.
Pastor Livenson also wanted me to know that there has been some forward motion on obtaining the church documentation that the Global Mission Table funded. He anticipates receiving the Quittis paperwork fairly soon; the Ministry of Religion Certificate is slower due to non-functioning government offices. Nevertheless, he expects that this document will follow in the coming weeks. Once he has these papers in hand, Pastor Livenson will reach out to Rev. Sonia Skupch of Lutheran World Federation.
I assured Pastor Livenson that we were staying apprised through Lynne Ross at Emmanuel (Thank you, Lynne!) and look forward to more encouraging news in the weeks ahead as he pursues treatment.
Thank you for your prayers,
Pastor Katie
