Lectionary Preview

June 22, 2025

Second Sunday after Pentecost

On this 2nd Sunday after Pentecost, the lectionary brings us stories of inclusion, healing, and identity. In Isaiah 65, God calls out to a people who did not seek Him, showing grace that goes beyond boundaries. Galatians 3 proclaims that in Christ, there is no longer Jew or Greek, slave or free, male or female—for all are one in Him. And in Luke 8, Jesus restores a man possessed by demons, showing the power of God to bring peace where there was chaos. As Lutherans, we hear in these texts the radical mercy of God who claims us, restores us, and makes us new.

CONGREGATIONAL CARE

Phyllis Sell

Prayers are lifted for the friends and family of Jane Riggs who passed away Tuesday, June 17th.

Services pending.

Medical Minute

There is a need for new leaders (aka facilitators) for our Grief and Grace program. July 7th at 8:30 – 11:30, there will be a training class in the church office. This is a very rewarding ministry which you only have to do (hopefully) once a year, and it reaches out to the whole community but especially our members. If this is something that you feel you would enjoy and could contribute your time and your heart to, please contact Barb Spenks at the church office for more details and information.

HEART HEALTHY MOVES

About 80% of heart disease cases are preventable with lifestyle. Of course, there is the usual that will prevent or cure just about EVERYTHING...regular exercise, no smoking, managing stress, healthy vegetable/ fish diet... Sigh. But here’s some tweaks that can also help.
