School Celebrations

Our two FIRST Tech Challenge Robotics teams competed in the League Championship with 26 other teams on February 14 in Flossmoor. Both teams have been working to design, fabricate, test, and optimize a robot for competition since September.

SFHS Rookie team Robo Spartans finished as the top performing rookie team and overcame extensive damage during the day with a rebuild in the pit work area. AJ B. '28 and Colin K. '28 operated the robot to a 9-6 record. In their final qualification match, they partnered with Spartan Robotics, and their alliance defeated the alliance made up of Glenbard South and Wheaton Academy: 141-66.

2nd year team Spartan Robotics entered the day 4th in the standings. Grace M. '26 and Aiden Z. '26 guided their robot “Robotouille” to a 14-1 record and 2nd place at the end of the qualifying rounds. Matthew H. '27 supported the team with scouting and strategy. As the Captain of the 2nd Alliance, Spartan Robotics reached the finals and qualified for the Illinois State Championship March 6-7 at Northern Illinois University. Spartan Robotics is currently ranked in the top 6% of teams in the world. Best of luck at State!

Congratulations to Spartan Wrestler Chase S. '27 who is advancing to the IHSA State Wrestling Tournament this weekend! We celebrated Chase with a traditional SFHS State Send-Off on Wednesday.

Congratulations to Margaret A. '26 for being named to the IHSA All State Academic Team! In our records dating back 15 years, she is one of two Spartans to receive this prestigious award. Congratulations, Margaret! Read more here!
