SFHS Music Continues Tradition of Top Honors at State

The SFHS Music Department (choir, band, and orchestra combined) placed first overall at the IHSA Solo and Ensemble State Class A Competition on Saturday, March 8! This is the second year in a row the Music Department has taken the top honor in its division.

 

In the individual competitions, the SFHS Choir placed 1st for the sixth year in a row, band placed 2nd for the second year in a row, and orchestra placed 4th.

NEXT WEEK: Mental Health Awareness Week

The Counseling Department and SADD Club are hosting an exciting lineup of activities during Mental Health Awareness Week, Monday, March 17-Friday, March 21. Participation by all students is encouraged. See the calendar here and in mySFHS within the Resource Board.

Graduation 2025

The Class of 2025 Graduation Liturgy and Commencement is 11:00 a.m. Sunday, May 18, in the Spyglass Athletic Center. Detailed information is in mySFHS within the Resource Board in the Class of 2025 tile.

Class of 2028 Grandparents Day

8:00-10:15 a.m. Friday, April 25, St. Francis High School. Grandparents of freshman students are invited to campus to celebrate the very important relationship they have in the lives of their grandchild. Together, they will enjoy a special morning that includes Mass, a light breakfast, and an optional tour.


Please RSVP here with the grandparent(s)' information. This is used to make name tags and mail a commemorative photo.

Controlled Burn at Wheaton Franciscan Sisters

We received a notice from the Wheaton Franciscan Sisters that, weather-permitting, controlled burns are being conducted on their property for approximately the next three weeks. All safety precautions are being taken to protect the surrounding areas and control the burn.

Illinois Pro-Life March: March 25

Students are invited to the Illinois Pro-Life March

Tuesday, March 25, at the Illinois State Capitol in Springfield.

 

Schedule:

  • 8:00 a.m. Board bus after homeroom and depart
  • 11:30 a.m. Arrive at State Capitol/Lunch (pack your own lunch)
  • 1:00 p.m. Rally and march at State Capitol
  • 2:45-3:00 p.m. Board bus/depart Springfield
  • 6:00 p.m. Return to SFHS

 

Speakers during the rally include Jaclyn Cornell; Dr. Matthew Eppinette, MBA, PHD; Dr. Christina Francis, M.D.; Reverend Michael Mohr; Mary Kate Zander; Rep. Adam Niemerg; and Most Reverend Bishop Thomas John Paprockiaa.


Participants should plan to join us for a MANDATORY preparation session

after school on Tuesday, March 18, in the Rosmonowski Room. Participants receive 3 service hours for the preparation session and march and rally. Space is limited, please register as soon as possible!

Clubs & Activities

Clubs and Activities at SFHS provide students with opportunities to engage in the campus community and enhance their learning in a co-curricular setting.


All students and parents have access to the “Clubs & Activities” tile in mySFHS within the Resource Board. Students can reach out to a club moderator for more information and potentially be added to the group roster. Within the tile, students and parents can view upcoming club and activity meetings.

Service Hours Information & Opportunities

By April 15, students should log their 15 hours of completed service. The link to log service hours is in mySFHS within the Resource Board in the Pastoral Ministry tile. This link was also emailed to every student. To log service hours, please follow these instructions.


Seniors who do not submit their Service Hours by April 15 are required to attend school Thursday, May 15, and Friday, May 16, to fulfill this graduation requirement. Juniors, sophomores, and freshmen who do not submit their Service Hours by April 15 will not receive their schedule of classes for the 2025-2026 school year and are not permitted to start school in August 2025 until all service requirements are met.

 

Cooking for DuPage PADS Interim Housing Center: Commit to cooking individually packaged meals with family or friends. Residents of the housing center do not have access to full kitchens and rely on volunteers to provide meals. To learn more and sign up, click here.

Shifts at Northern Illinois Food Bank: Volunteer as an individual or with a group! All students 16 years old and up can create their own volunteer profile and register for shifts at the food bank in Geneva or any of their mobile sites. Click here to create your profile and sign up.
