 In the spirit of nurturing relationships and gathering together in God's name, we are excited to welcome guests back to our Liturgies. Check-in by all guests is required. Check-in begins at 8:15 a.m. and ends when the Liturgy begins at Doors 12 and 19 only. As always, all other entrances are locked and secured with buzzer entry only at Door 4.  |  |    |   | Seniors are invited to kick off Homecoming Week on Monday, September 29, with an annual SFHS senior tradition: watching the sunrise on the game field. Sunrise is at 6:45 a.m. and the Lacy Family Gateway Building gates will open at 6:30 a.m. Students can bring their own beverages and snacks to enjoy as they watch the sunrise together. Dean of Students Dan Holleman and Mrs. Christine Dougherty are attending to supervise. |  |    |   | Math Team - First Meeting |  |    |   | The SFHS Math Team's first meeting is after school Wednesday, October 1, in the Student Union. Students will receive information about the contests and practice schedules, enjoy snacks, and complete a race between the grade levels. Bring a pencil and calculator and join us as we kick off the year!  
 If you cannot attend, please see your grade level coach for information: Freshmen - Mrs. Blake in 1212, Sophomores - Mr. Morgan in 1214, Juniors - Mrs. Lembas in 1209, and Seniors - Mrs. Abbott in 1213. 
 Generally, Math Team meets after school on Wednesdays and practices take place in the coaches' classrooms. Most contests are on Saturdays. View the full schedule here.

Dance tickets, the weekly schedule, and more information is in mySFHS within the Resource Board in the Homecoming Tile. |  |    |   | Freshman Retreat - October 23 |  |    |   | The Freshman Retreat is at SFHS and Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) on Thursday, October 23. Freshman report to Spyglass by 7:40 a.m. and are bussed to FMSC in Schaumburg in the afternoon. Students return to SFHS by 3:00 p.m.   
Dress in Outta Uniform: Students must wear closed-toe shoes, remove all jewelry, and pull back their hair for FMSCBring a lunch with your name clearly labeledDo not bring tablets, schoolwork, etc.Students' phones should remain in lockers for the day   The onsite morning retreat is run by the seniors on the Ministry and Mission Team and Pastoral Ministry staff and consists of activities and reflection focused on The Francis Way.   The retreat is a graduation requirement. Students who do not attend MUST attend the make-up on Friday, February 27, at SFHS. 
 Students are expected to maintain proper respect and positive behavior while on retreat and at FMSC. Those who cannot maintain these expectations will be sent home and will attend the make-up retreat. The email is also posted in mySFHS within the Resource Board in the Newsroom Tile.  |  |    |   | Service Opportunity - September 30 |  |    |   | Sophomores, juniors, and seniors are invited to participate in a service opportunity on Tuesday, September 30, during the school day. Students will depart from the school at 6:00 a.m. and return around 2:00 p.m.     Faculty from the Pastoral Ministry Department will take a group of students to Our Lady of the Angels in West Humboldt Park to help at their weekly food pantry. This is a meaningful way to serve the community and earn six Christian Service hours!   Spots are limited! Students are responsible for checking in with teachers about missed work. Click here to sign up! |  |    |   | Mothers' Club 2nd Annual Chili Cook Off |  |    |   | 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 1, Kuhn Memorial Field Concessions area (before and during the home girls flag football game).  
 The entire Spartan community is welcome to compete and participate: students, parents, faculty, staff, and alumni! Bring your winning chili in a crockpot with a sign stating your chili's title, heat level, and any allergen/dietary information. Sour cream, oyster crackers, and shredded cheese are provided.  
 Drop off your chili between 6:00 and 6:30 p.m.; judging is 6:45-7:15 p.m. $1 per person for a tasting bowl. Prize and bragging rights for the best chili! Not a chili person? Bring an appetizer or a dessert!

'26, who completed an 8-week STEM internship with NASA this summer. She was part of the 2025 Aviation Concept Design Experience and learned about aerospace opportunities within the Aviation Systems Division at Ames Research Center in California. |  |  |  |    |   | Clubs & Activities Calendar |  |    |   | Reminder: Executive Functioning Workshop |  |    |   | 5:30-7:30 p.m. October 7, at SFHS. This hands-on workshop is open to students grades 6-12 and their parents. Cost is $65 per student/parent team. Sign up here! 
 Many students need help improving executive functioning skills like organization, time management, studying, and note-taking. This workshop will provide:an introduction to executive functioning skills; organization of online binders, OneNote folders, and school materials (students should bring their Surface Pro); Study and note-taking skills; Effective homework routines as a student-parent team; Tips and tricks for managing time effectively.

 Class of 2026 Grandparents Day: 8:00-10:15 a.m. Friday, October 17. Grandparents of senior students are invited to campus for a special day with their grandchild. Please RSVP with the grandparent(s)' information. This is used to make name tags and mail a commemorative photo. 
 Opt-In for Text Messages: In the event of an inclement weather schedule change or emergency, we send text message notifications to parents in addition to an email and phone call. Parents must opt-in to receive text messages, but the process is simple! Just text "Yes" to 79041 and then save the number as SFHS in your contacts so you don't miss the message.
