Interim Dean and Priest-in-Charge's Note

Dear Friends In Christ,

On this Thanksgiving weekend, I wish to give thanks for all of you. For your presence, love and generosity of heart and spirit, making all things possible with God. There are the faithful who serve at the Cathedral nearly every week in various capacities, and there are the folks who you never see working behind the scenes. There are others among us who show up when we need you the most. Even more who offer encouraging words of appreciation and gratitude. We know and see you, and we give heartfelt thanks.

Church communities are special in that way. Everyone could be doing something else on Sunday mornings; but the faithful gather to worship God, to give thanks for the blessings of life, to pray for people near and far who need God, and to be fed and nourished for the weeks to come. We come to draw near to God. Then God sends us out into the world to love our neighbors, to proclaim God’s wide embrace and forgiveness, to invite others to follow Jesus, as we are called. Nothing here happens without you – you are essential to this loving community of faith.

I wish to give special thanks the Staff of St. John’s Cathedral, Vestry and leaders among us with whom I serve. Thank you for everything you give with generous and gracious hearts.

As we enter Advent, let us quiet our minds and open our hearts to the presence of God in this place and in you. May we prepare a place for Jesus to be born once again; and may this source of life and love radiate from you to all we meet along the way.

Happy Thanksgiving, dear people of God.

With love and blessings,

Anne+

The Weekly Update

Stewardship Season

Happening now!

We encourage you to please bring your pledge card this Sunday (if you have not already done so) and join the rest of the congregation in our ministry here in Los Angeles for the year 2026. More cards will be available on the welcome table. Simply drop them in the offering plate during services. Please fill out a physical card even if you give electronically.

"Saint Paul invites us to “walk together in love” as followers of Christ. This invitation to walk in love is the theme for our stewardship campaign this year. Please join us in making your pledge of financial support to St. John’s Cathedral as we launch our second century. Walking together invites us to reflect on our relationship with God, our responsibilities to one another, and our use of the gifts entrusted to us. This reflection allows us to understand how we practice stewarding our own offerings to God through St. John’s Cathedral..."[More]
