Grow in Faith at the Ministry Fair
THIS SUNDAY
9.00 a.m. - 12.00 p.m.
Scripture reminds us in 1 John 3:18 that we are called not to love with words alone, but with actions and in truth. The Ministry Fair is a wonderful way to put that calling into practice. Each ministry will have a table where you can meet leaders, ask questions, and discover how your gifts can make a difference. Whether it’s through creative arts, hospitality, teaching, service, or behind-the-scenes support, there’s a place for you to show Christ’s love in action. Come and see how you can grow in faith while serving others. Photo Credit: Soriano, M. (2024). Ministry Fair at St. John’s. facebook. Retrieved September 12, 2025.

Art and Architecture Luncheon
Saturday, October 4
12.30 p.m.
Luncheon tickets are $50.00 and are currently available for purchase as the cathedral celebrates the 100th anniversary of our sanctuary. Mark your calendars for a festival service of thanksgiving on Sunday November 23 and a gala dinner on December 20.
"With its exterior facade patterned after the Church of San Pietro in Tuscania and its ceiling echoing that of San Miniato Basilica in Florence, the sanctuary was designed by local architect brothers Francis Pierpont Davis and Walter S. Davis. Interior appointments include a distinctive altar triptych; extensive mosaics, marble panels, stained glass, and the bishop’s hand-carved cathedra (official seat). The 1925 sanctuary was built to replace a wooden church that our parish, founded in 1890, had outgrown. St. John’s was named the diocese’s pro-cathedral in 2007."

Cathedral and Commission on LGBTQ Ministry to host Coming Out Day service
Saturday, October 11
5.00 p.m.
Join the Commission on LGBTQ Ministry at St. John’s Cathedral for “Evening of Unbinding,” a National Coming Out Day evening prayer service inspired by John 11:38–44 — “Come out. Be unbound.”
The service will honor the resilience of those who have paved the way for LGBTQ+ equity and commit to moving forward against forces that would push progress back. This gathering also marks the launch of a new initiative of the Commission on LGBTQ Ministry, centered on prayer, action, advocacy and care for God’s beloved transgender and nonbinary children.
The Rt. Rev. John Harvey Taylor, Bishop of the Diocese of Los Angeles, will participate in the service, which will also include music by Jess Gracia, a meditation by Jonathan Quinn, and participation from members of the Commission on LGBTQ Ministry.
A garden reception will follow the service. All are welcome — come as you are.
