Dr. Liesel Copeland Named Assistant Dean
|
|
H. Liesel Copeland, PhD
, has been appointed assistant dean for medical education and admissions. Dr. Copeland has served as director for medical education and admissions since 2014. In this role, she has aimed to matriculate classes of students that match the school’s values and has used her expertise in medical education program evaluation to support our faculty.
Dr. Copeland earned her bachelor's degree at Loyola University of Chicago and her PhD in educational research at the University of Virginia. She completed her postdoctoral training at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, where she conducted research in the areas of patient education, graduate education, and continuing medical education.
Her experience in program evaluation and educational research has been applied to a number of projects at the medical school. Please welcome Dr. Copeland to her new role.

are hosting a series of talks in March in recognition of
Women's History Month

March 12
as
part of the “RED Talks: Raptors Engaging in Discussion” program, which features leaders in women and gender equality. The event will begin at 6 p.m. in the multi-purpose room of the Campus Center.

Alumni Mentor Students at Career Night
|
|
The
Robert Wood Johnson Medical School Alumni Association
hosted its 31st Annual Career Night on Tuesday, March 5, during which medical
students networked with alumni and learned about different career paths and specialties in medicine.
More than 65 alumni attended the event, representing 25 specialties.
Kicking off the event was new Alumni Association President
Elena Frid, MD
,
a board-certified neurologist and clinical neurophysiologist specializing in infection-induced autoimmune neurology. Dr. Frid thanked alumni who participated in last year's Scholarship Challenge that raised $2 million for student scholarships. She also spoke about the importance of fostering relationships with medical students and encouraged alumni to sign up to participate in the alumni/student mentorship database, which currently gives students access to more than 400 alumni willing to help student navigate their medical careers throughout the year.

and Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital cheered on the Rutgers Women's Basketball team at its last home game of the season.

Robert Wood Johnson Medical School employees joined in the laughs on Feb. 28 at the Stress Factory Comedy Club in New Brunswick. More than 45 people attended the social outing hosted by the
Staff Council, where they enjoyed comedian Jeff Dye, a private buffet and basket raffle.

Celebration of Distinction Graduates

, a series of photos set against intimate conversations presenting the stories of 27 families of children with rare diseases.

The Women's Health Institute and the Margery S. Foster Center of the Rutgers University Libraries are hosting a screening of
Target Zero
, a documentary film about HIV prevention and treatment that follows real-life patients who are pregnant and HIV-positive. A Q&A and discussion will follow. Refreshments will be provided.
