Dear St. Giles Families,

Oh, what a night!  Friday night’s Jam the Gym was a crowd pleaser!  Thank you to to Sean Clancy, Athletic Director, Kristen Reale and Kathleen Sweeney for all of their work making it an amazing and interactive night for everyone.  We are grateful to so many parent volunteers who made this night possible. It was a great celebration of our girls’ basketball program and a fun and high-energy night! The evening was capped off with the 8th grade girls taking on their parents in a hard-fought battle to the buzzer!  Thank you to our coaches, parents and players for a terrific season.
Parent/Teacher Conferences
Thursday we have an 11:45 am dismissal for all students to accommodate Parent/Teacher Conferences.  Afternoon Kids Klub will not be available.  Teachers have reached out to parents to request a scheduled conference; if you would like to meet with a particular teacher, please contact the teacher directly.  Conferences will be held in the teacher’s classroom, not McDonough Hall as we did in the Fall.  Please use the following entrances; parents will be buzzed into each building:

  • PreK-main entrance to Gleeson Building
  • Kindergarten - 2nd Grade
  • Enter through the alley doors, not the morning or afternoon doors.
  • The outer door is unlocked, please buzz when you are in the interior vestibule.
  • 3rd - 8th Grade:
  • Main Office Door, you do not need to sign in
  • 3rd Grade - 5th Grade up the stairs on the first floor
  • 6th Grade - 8th Grade up the stairs on the 2nd floor

5 Essentials Survey
Beginning this week, St. Giles teachers, parents, and students will join schools across the Archdiocese and participate in the Climate, Culture and Catholic Identity Survey.

As a parent, this opportunity will allow you to share your thoughts on the essential elements of school effectiveness in a survey about St. Giles. This survey is given to all schools in Illinois, private and public, and provides additional data for us to move forward with our Strategic Plan and overall school improvement. The difference between this survey and that of public schools is the addition of the Catholic Identity segment for Archdiocesan schools.

All teachers and 4th-8th grade students will respond to this survey during school this week. We need at least 20 percent of St Giles parents to complete this survey to receive a parent supplement report. We appreciate everyone’s participation in this survey so that we can add this important data to our Continuous School Improvement Plan (CSIP). Your input matters!

Your participation in the parent portion of the survey will help the Archdiocese understand more about St. Giles and guide improvement. Your identity and survey responses will be kept entirely confidential and will never be connected to you or your child.

The 5Essentials Survey will be conducted through March 22, 2024.  Final reports will be sent to schools in May 2024.

Families received a letter from the Archdiocese last week with information and links to survey questions, etc.  If you did not receive that letter, you can find it below.  If you do not want your child to participate in the survey, there is a form in the letter that needs to be returned to the office prior to Wednesday, February 14th.

Ash Wednesday
This Wednesday marks the beginning of the Lenten season. Please join us at our all school mass for ashes on Wednesday at 1:00 pm.
