Dear St. Giles Families,
Oh, What a Night!
Thank you hardly seems enough to express my tremendous gratitude for our community at St. Giles. I am so moved by the generosity of your time, talent and treasure to make our Black & Gold Casino Night such a success. We continue to receive donations and as this goes to print, we are so close to our goal! There is still time to give! We hope you had a wonderful evening meeting new families and being with old friends. Final details about the evening will be shared in an upcoming special eNews.
Last night’s event would not have been possible without the hard work of so many parents! I’d especially like to thank Mike Carroll, our Black & Gold chair, for leading the event and Karen Pawels for procuring all of the fabulous auction items. Their committee and planning of so many details made the night so special! Black & Gold Committee members include:

|
A very special thank you goes to Larry Wardzala for providing the sparkle and glitzy set-up for the evening and Michele Bibbey, who kept all the wheels in motion behind the scenes while always maintaining her calm poker face.
Thanks to our Development Committee members, especially Rob Sabatino, our Development Chair, for their efforts. Thank you to Sarah Yaffe, Marketing Chair, for assisting with our event communications and social media efforts. Thank you to the many parents who donated to our auction, those who sold raffle tickets at Mass, and our school board for their support behind the scenes. Thank you, Heather Kroll, for serving as our school point person on the event and Suzanne Cronacher, who worked with the students to create such beautiful artwork. And, of course, thank you to our teachers and staff who generously donated their time and exciting opportunities for our Lions to gather outside of school!
Finally, a HUGE thank you to Chris Hartweg, who again served as our Black & Gold MC. He provided us with entertainment and fun while helping us raise critical funds during our paddle raise.
So many parents gave their time and resources, and it made all the difference. Fr. Carl and I had a blast as celebrity dealers, and everyone went home a winner!
Have a wonderful week,
Meg
P.S. Don’t forget to move your clocks forward if you didn't last night. Spring forward!

Teacher Spotlight
Ms. Sandy Tomeczko, 1st Grade
BA Education, St. Xavier University, MA Reading Specialist, Concordia University
I have taught pre school, Kindergarten, and first grade for over 25 years. Each grade level has brought me so much joy in different ways.
Years at St. Giles: 16 years
Favorite Book and/or Movie: Good Will Hunting
Favorite Vacation Spot: Cancun with my daughter!
Fun Fact: When I was younger I was part of an extreme sports club. I enjoyed sky diving, white water rafting, ski jumping,! Now I keep my feet on the ground as much as possible!!
I'm a mom of one beautiful adopted daughter from Russia, who means the world to me. We have a black lab, Bianca, who brings so much joy to our household. When I'm not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my extended family. We still do Italian Sunday Dinners. Cooking is one of my favorite hobbies, as long as someone else in my family cleans up after dinner! When I am blessed with spare time, you will find me outdoors enjoying nature, going hiking, swimming, or on a nice long bike ride. In the Summer, it's a treat to go up to New Buffalo, Michigan, with a novel and spend the day at the Beach. I was born and raised on the south side, and teaching at St. Giles brought my family up North. I've enjoyed 16 wonderful years at St. Giles, and I look forward to many more. It's truly amazing to work in a Catholic school system where teachers, parents, and our faith based community have a symbiotic relationship in which we all work together to provide knowledge and guidance in a safe and supportive learning environment for our children. It has been a blessing in my life.
