St. John's Annual Ingathering for Alpha House
Our Mother's Day Ingathering, benefiting the mothers and children of Alpha House, is a special tradition at our parish. Volunteers are needed to distribute collection bags following all three services on April 29 and May 6.   Volunteers are also needed to receive collection bags prior to all three services on Mother's Day.   If you can lend a hand, please call Ruth Giordano at 254.4332 or email tampagio@aol.com.
Visitation by the Bishop
Confirmation for youth and adults will take place on Sunday, May 6, at 9:15 a.m. Bishop Dabney Smith will preside. The Bishop will also preside over the 11:15 a.m. service of the Holy Eucharist and Holy Baptism.
Senior Sunday: May 13
Our annual celebration of our graduating high school seniors will take place during the 9:15 a.m. service on May 13. Brief remarks given by some of our seniors will stand in place of the sermon at that service. The reception afterwards is hosted by junior class parents.
 
Senior parents, please let Ayana know if your child plans to participate. Junior parents, email Betsy Graham if you can help with the reception.
Adult Christian Formation
May Women's Retreat Details
The 2018 Women's Retreat will be held at DaySpring Conference Center on Friday evening and Saturday, May 4 and 5.  The theme this year is The Friendship of Women.  A limited number of overnight spaces are available for those who wish to attend the Friday evening session.  All are welcome to attend the all-day program on Saturday.  Cost for the overnight portion (including meals, materials and double occupancy) is $94; cost for the Saturday session (including meals and materials) is $50.  Scholarships are available.  For more information or to register, contact Deacon Kathleen at kmoore@stjohnstampa.org or 785.9400.

The Soiree
The next Soiree will be at Mary and Ron Hulse's home at 4912 Lyford Cay Road on Friday, May 11. We hope to have a big turn out as we have not had a Soiree for a few months. Bring a dish to share and and any drink of your choosing. We will have red and white wines.
The Circle
Cinco with the Circle
Are you interested in joining a group of St. John's parishioners who periodically gather to share in faith, fellowship, and friendship through social events? The Circle is open to adult parishioners of any age. 

We are kicking off 2018 with a festive "Cinco de Mayo" event on Friday, May 4, at 6:30 p.m. at the home of Paul and Mary Beth Carastro. We hope you'll make plans to join us!

Bowling Night with EYC!
VBS Registration Is Now Open!
Online registration for St John's Vacation Bible School (June 18 through 22) is now up! VBS is open to all children in Pre-K through 4th grade, and this year's fun and spirit-filled theme is Shipwrecked.  

We ask that all parents of VBS participants volunteer in some way (either before, during, or after VBS). Volunteer sign ups are available at the registration link: https://vbspro.events/p/events/stjohnsvbstampa.  

VBS will be from 9:00 a.m. to noon each day, and the cost is $40 per child. Registration is capped at 80 children, so sign up before we sell out! Contact Ayana Grady at agrady@stjohnstampa.org for more information.

Flowers Available

Outreach
Tampa Deanery Dominican Republic Project Update
  The Tampa Deanery's 2018 project is the completion of a three-year project building San Timoteo Episcopal Church in Nizao, which will be consecrated on June 30 . Click here for a flyer about the trip.
 
The teams will also be working at the San Matias Church and School in Santana, Bani, adjacent to the Morrow Center (our lodging).  We will be completing much needed repairs, painting and sealing the concrete roof. The school was constructed by the Tampa Deanery in 2002 and 2003.
 
Dates are: Team 1 - June 16-23, Team 2 - June 23-July 1, Team 3 - June 29-July 7. 
We still have spaces on Teams 1 and 3.

The CWBS group continues its spring study series on Tuesdays at 6:45 a.m. in the Peterson Room on the St John's Middle School campus.  Weekly meetings start with a light breakfast followed by prayer and study until 8:00 a.m. All women of St John's and their friends are welcome.

Women's Mid Morning Bible Study, 10:15 a.m., Church
The Women's Mid Morning Bible Study continues their study of the book of Genesis. 
Father Connelly will lead the study of Genesis 44:1 - 47:26, "Joseph Reconciles with His Brothers," on Tuesday, May 1.
