Annual Pet Blessing!
St. John's Giving Tree 2019
The Outreach Commission is pleased to announce that the St. John's Giving Tree is back again for the Christmas season! Save the dates of November 17 and 24 to pick up your ornaments and choose a gift for a child. The children who are enrolled in the after-school program at Cornerstone Kids will be the lucky recipients of your love and generosity. Stay tuned!
Parish Offices Closed
Please note, the parish offices will be closed for the Columbus Day holiday this Monday, October 14.
Music Notes
The Choir of St. John's in Concert: This Sunday
The removal of the carpet from the sanctuary this summer resulted in enhanced acoustics, and the Choir of St. John's will present a concert of choral favorites to celebrate the new sound. The concert, which will take place on Sunday, October 13, at 5:00 p.m., will feature works by Olivier Messiaen, Robert Parsons, Sir Edward Bairstow, and Sir Charles Villiers StanfordReception to follow in the Parish Hall.  Simon Morley will conduct  and  Ryan Hebert will be  Guest Organist.

Our own Simon Morley gave a concert at the University of Tampa last week, and audience members included visitors from St. John's, including Fr. Connelly. All who attended enjoyed the lunchtime treat!
Fellowship and Events
Annual Fathers Camping Trip
This year's St. John's Fathers camping trip is November 8 and 9 at Lakewood Retreat, 25458 Dan Brown Hill Road, 34602 in Brooksville, FL (www.lakewoodretreat.org).

The cost is $25 per person including children. Please mail a check to Kaivon Madani, 5224 Bayshore Blvd, Tampa, FL 33611, or you can pay at the campground. The fee will help cover the cost of the campsite fees, food, firewood, and other needed supplies. Please email kaivonmadani@hotmail.com with questions and to RSVP. Don't miss this popular St. John's tradition!

Flowers and Candle Available
The  Chapel Altar flowers are available on November 3, and the c andle in the  Sanctuary Light is available on November 24. If you would like to take one of these opportunities to honor a loved one and support St. John's, contact us at parish@stjohnstampa.org or 259.1570.
St. John's School Admissions Open House
St. John's School will host a fall Admissions Open House on Tuesday, October 29, at 8:30 a.m., for K(4) through Grade 4 at the Lower Division campus (906 South Orleans Avenue).
Interested families can register at stjohnseagles.org/openhouse or contact Admissions for more information!

Can't make the Open House? The Primary Division is open for tours each Tuesday from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Ask a friend to join you for a tour and conversation and learn more about the St. John's experience.
Adult Christian Formation
Moms Meet Up Tomorrow!
The Moms Meet Up group will meet this Thursday, October 10,  at 8:45 a.m. in Discovery House. This month's topic will be the emotional baggage that we hold on to in our lives. The group will watch Luggage from the Nooma video series. Click here for a preview.
Women's Mid Morning Bible Study
The Women's Mid Morning Bible Study continues their study of the Old Testament Book of Isaiah. The group invites you to come enlarge your understanding as they follow Interpretation Bible Study's Isaiah by Gary Light.

The group meets on alternate Tuesdays in the Lowry Room beginning at 10:00 a.m. The lesson time is 10:15 to 11:15 a.m.   On Tuesday, October 22, Father Connelly will guide the group's study of Isaiah 40:1-11,  YHWH and the People (Part 2).

Pumpkin Painting Party
Our St John's Pumpkin Painting Party will be Sunday, October 27,  from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. in the Parish Hall! It's BYOP (Bring Your Own Pumpkin), the parish will provide paint, brushes, activities, and food! We encourage all families to participate in this fun fall tradition. Invite your friends for a great time!

Christmas Pageant sign-ups are going on now , with our annual Christmas Pageant Reveal Brunch scheduled for Sunday, November 10,  between the services! Please sign up for your child's preferred role at Sunday School check-in, or e-mail Ayana at agrady@stjohnstampa.org .
EYC News
Youth Mission Trip Meeting
This Sunday, October 13, we will have our St John's EYC Mission Trip Parents' Meeting from 4:00 to 4:30 p.m. in Discovery House! Our 2020 EYC Mission Trip will be from May 31 through June 6 in New Orleans. We have 18 spots available for the trip, and a $100 deposit at the meeting will secure yours. Come to learn more about the trip details, as well as our fundraising opportunities!
EYC This Week
This Sunday, October 13, St John's EYC will meet in Discovery House. 6th through 8th graders will get together from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m., and 9th through 12th graders from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m.! This week, Middle Schoolers will learn how to bless others with their lives (with the superhero example of Captain America), and High Schoolers will learn the power of truth through the movie The Words.

Thank you to Anna Griggs for providing our EYC dinner for the combined group from 5:30 to 6:00 p.m.! We still have several available dates to bring one of our weekly EYC Dinners, you can sign up here. 
EYC In Service
Sign up to serve at the Metropolitan Ministries Holiday Tents on Saturday, November 23, from 8:45 to 11:30 a.m.! This is a fun and meaningful annual service event and 6th through 12th grade families are welcome to sign up together! Every volunteer needs to register here (first come, first served). 

EYC Halloween Party
The annual EYC Halloween Party, a combined 6 th through  12 th grade event, will be on Sunday, October 20,  from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. in Discovery House! Please come in a church-appropriate costume for a night of games, treats, and fun. Invite your friends!

Hospital Visitation

We want to provide support during your time of need. However, because health regulations prohibit the clergy from being informed when our parishioners are in the hospital, we will not know if you or someone you love is there unless you tell us. We want to provide support in any time of need or crisis. Please call the parish offices at 259.1570 or  click here to email us to let us know when you need us.
