News of the Parish
Easter Quiet Day at DaySpring
The Rt. Rev. G. Porter Taylor, who served as the sixth bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Western North Carolina, will be the facilitator for the Eastertide Quiet Day at DaySpring on Tuesday, April 30. The Rt. Rev. Taylor  was also a frequent visitor to St. John's when his daughter-in-law, Stefanie Taylor, was our Chaplain to the School.

His topic will be   Living and Telling the Good News, a subject he says is not a skill of going out to evangelize, but instead having "a change in how we see things." Visit the diocesan website for more information.
St. John's Choir In Concert
On Friday, May 3,  at 12:00 noon, the Choir of St. John's will sing a concert in Sykes Chapel of the University of Tampa as part of their lunchtime concert series. The program, lasting approximately forty minutes, will encompass a broad repertoire of pieces from the liturgical seasons of the year. Admission is free, and Sykes Chapel, if you haven't experienced it, is very fine, both visually and acoustically, and is home to the spectacular Dobson organ of 2010, which will be heard in the concert.

News from St. John's School
With the Fourth Quarter underway and the end of the year in sight, there is lots to report.

As I mentioned in this column back in January, we had a record number of applicants for our K(5) Kindergarten program. That has now translated into a full class for next year. Parents who may be thinking of Kindergarten as their entry point into St. John's may want to reconsider and look at K(4) Pre-kindergarten instead to be surer of a spot.

The Master Plan phase of our campus renovation project is well underway, and we are have received input from a number of stakeholders. There will be a parent survey, so you will have a chance to share your thoughts about the campus going forward. To conduct the Master Plan, the School and Church engaged the well-known local architectural firm of Cooper Johnson Smith Peterson (formerly Cooper Johnson Smith). Dave Peterson and his talented colleagues are doing a terrific job of leading us through the exciting process of determining our needs for the future.

However, because health regulations prohibit the clergy from being informed when our parishioners are in the hospital, we will not know if you or someone you love is there unless you tell us. We want to provide support in any time of need or crisis. Please call the parish offices at 259.1570 or  click here to email us to let us know when you need us.

If you have a pastoral emergency when the parish offices are closed, please call 906.5199.
