Fr. Michael said “The History Museum tour was a great experience! Jack (Wyatt) really knows his stuff and made it a lot of fun, too. The food at the Columbia was delicious, too. The best thing about it was bonding with our church friends. I whole-heartedly recommend it!”

Spreading HOPE in Tampa Bay
This fall, the Hillsborough Organization for Progress & Equality (HOPE) began its work to deepen relationships and share how community problems are impacting our community. HOPE also reflected on its spiritual foundation for doing justice work and the vital role each person can play to fulfill God’s call to “do justice.”

If you are interested in learning more about the work that HOPE is doing in Hillsborough County, you are invited to attend the Virtual HOPE 33rd Annual Convention on Monday, October 25, to hear the results of this year’s Listening Process and see how HOPE makes decisions and commits to work together for justice. The time and login information will be included in an upcoming Scroll. Contact Shirley Susich at [email protected] with questions, click here for a full explanation of HOPE's work in our community, or visit hillsboroughhope.org to learn more.

Action Items and Opportunities
Search for Bishop Coadjutor Extended
On behalf of the Diocese of Southwest Florida, we would like to announce the extension of the application period for the Bishop Coadjutor Search. The decision was made in the interest of having a deep and diverse selection of applicants to work with in this process. Therefore, the application period will now close at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, October 15.

The diocese asks all parishioners to prayerfully consider if you know anyone who would fit the needs of this diocese in serving as our next Bishop. The profile and application information can be viewed at www.bishopsearchswfl.org. When you identify a person who you believe may be interested in applying, please share this information with them.

So many people in our diocese have lived in places around the country and may know someone who could be called to this position.
Finally, as they are also committed to regularly praying, they invite you to join them in prayer for this process. Below you will find a prayer written by committee chaplain, the Rev. Adrienne Hymes. If you have any questions regarding this process, please contact the committee via their email address, [email protected].

Gracious God, as we walk by faith the shared journey of choosing a bishop for the Diocese of Southwest Florida, nurture within us discerning hearts and minds hopeful for possibilities yet to be revealed. Send to us a caring leader, we pray, who will uniquely delight in the abundant gifts of our diocese, and the beauty of this land, which so richly reflect your unity in diversity. Equip our human eyes and ears with divine recognition for the chief pastor of our diocese whom you have chosen to lead us in the ever-unfolding mission of your Church, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
Metropolitan Ministries Donations Wanted
Two big blue barrels stand in the parish office foyer ready to receive donated food, clothing, and other items. My favorite so far was a beautiful teddy bear that I know is giving great comfort to a child in need. On Sundays, a few items representing all the donations made that week are brought forward in a basket, placed on the altar, and blessed by the priest. On Mondays, I empty the blue barrels and take all the donations to Metropolitan Ministries. Rinse and repeat. Of course we make donations like this because Jesus taught us to care for those in need.  Thank you!!
