No Parish Breakfast for February
We will not have a Parish Breakfast this month. The lunch provided as part of the Annual Meeting of the Parish will serve as our communal meal for February.
Palm Crosses Needed
Please bring in your last year's Palm Sunday crosses so they can be burned for ashes. The deadline is February 24 for us to receive them in the Parish Offices.
Combined Service and Annual Meeting This Sunday, February 10

The Annual Meeting of St. John's Parish, which will include the election of four Vestry members from the preceding nominees, will follow a combined service at 10:00 a.m. this Sunday, February 10. The combined service will take the place of the 9:15 and 11:15 services. The 8:00 a.m. service will take place as usual. 

The Annual Meeting will be in the parish hall with a simple lunch of Spanish bean soup, Cuban sandwiches, and cookies provided. 

Early voting will be available when the Parish Offices are open.

The Vestry amended the bylaws of the Parish earlier this year so the four nominees receiving the most votes will be elected. A majority of all votes cast is no longer required for election.

Come to the Ball - Cornerstone Kids Benefit Event
The annual Lincoln-Douglass Ball, a major fundraising event for Cornerstone Kids Inc., will take place on Saturday, February 23 at the Embassy Suites USF beginning at 6:00 p.m.  St. John's has purchased two tables for the Ball; the theme for this year is Masquerade. St. John's is a longtime partner and friend of Cornerstone Kids--help support them by picking up your complimentary tickets now from the church office, or contact Deacon Kathleen at  kmoore@stjohnstampa.org  or 785.9400.
Adult Christian Formation
Mom's Morning Bible Study
The Mom's Bible Study is tomorrow morning February 7, at 8:45 a.m. in Discovery House (918 Orleans). Women's Mid Morning Bible Study
The Women's Mid Morning Bible Study continues a study of the Gospel of Matthew using Interpretation Bible Studies' guide Matthew by Alyce M. McKenzie. 
On February 19, Mary Jane Schenck will lead the group's study of Matthew 5:6 - 6:4, "The Sermon on the Mount, Part 2." 

The group will gather for fellowship at 9:45 a.m. and the lesson will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel.  All interested women are invited to attend. For more information contact Joan McKay at mckayjhm@aol.com or Pat Wilson at patwilson68@tampabay.rr.com or 644.4640.
Epiphany Bible Study with the Rector
Wednesdays i n the Lowry Room from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m.
The Epiphany Bible Study with Fr. Connelly will continue next week, February 13, when we will Jesus's extension and intensification of the meaning of the Laws (Matthew 5:21-27). No advance preparation is necessary; only an open heart and an open mind. You may want to bring a Bible in the translation you prefer. 
Children and Youth
EYC This Week
6 th through  12 th graders! St John's EYC (youth group) meets most Sunday afternoons from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. This Sunday, February 10 , in addition to our weekly dinner and games, we'll discuss the question: "Does God always answer prayers?" Come for a night of fun, and invite your friends!
DaySpring Spring Middle School Retreat
6 th through  8 th grade parents! New Beginnings Middle School Retreat, March 1 through  3  at DaySpring, is going to be an epic weekend of fun and faith, with games, small groups, and songs! The deadline to register is Monday, February 18 , and you can find out more about the weekend here. We hope to have a great group from St John's participating!
EYC Parent Food Help Needed

VBS 2019: Volunteers Needed
Adults and youth in 5 th grade and above! We are currently recruiting volunteers for this summer's Vacation Bible School, June 24 through 28! Our theme is ROAR! , and VBS registration for participants from potty-trained 3 year olds through 4th grade will open soon! Kids Against Hunger Packing Postponed.
We have had to postpone the Kids Against Hunger packing scheduled for this month to a later date. Stay tuned, we will keep you updated.
Action Items and Opportunities
Sandwich Sunday Hosting Dates Available
We are in need of Sandwich Sunday hosts for the coming year. Hosting includes shopping for supplies, coordinating sandwich preparation on the day-of, and delivering the meals to Faith Cafe. Costs are reimbursed by the parish.

Available dates are: March 17, May 19, June 16, July 21, September 15, October 20, November 17, and December 15. Contact Cindy Martin at cdmcasa@gmail.com if you can help!

Hospital Visitation

We want to provide support during your time of need! However, because health regulations prohibit the clergy from being informed when our parishioners are in the hospital, we will not know if you or someone you love is there unless you tell us. We want to provide support in any time of need or crisis. Please call the parish offices at 259.1570 or  click here to email us to let us know when you need us.

The Men's Thursday Bible study will meet at 11:45 in the Small Peterson Room at the St. John's Middle School Campus, 240 Plant Avenue.  Please park in the lot in the front of the Middle School and not in the Four Green Fields lot.  We will come together for fellowship and study the readings for this coming Sunday.  Please feel free to bring a lunch if you wish.
Due to security measures at St. John's School, upon arrival, please stop by the front desk to receive a lanyard.
