News of the Parish
Parish Breakfast and Sandwich Sunday This Week
Our monthly Parish Breakfast is this Sunday, October 20, the third Sunday of the month. Chef Dave is out of town for the weekend, so Shawn O'Brien will take the reins. Join us!

Sandwich Sunday will also take place this Sunday. Join us in the Parish Hall after the 9:15 a.m. service to help make sandwiches and bag lunches for the patrons at Faith Café. Thanks to hosts Katie and Chris Morales!
At the Organ this Weekend
It is very good to welcome Kevin Page back to the organ console for our services this weekend. Kevin is no stranger to St. John's, having been a boy chorister, organ scholar and assistant organist respectively. I am grateful to him for playing and directing the music while I am away, and it's reassuring to know that the organ and choir are in such good hands.

Love INC Breakfast Fundraiser a Success!
Many thanks to those who attended the Love INC Breakfast Fundraiser at the Portico on October 8.  St. John's folk filled two tables-we were very well represented.  And initial estimates confirm that the fundraiser was a great success.  Love INC is most grateful to have St. John's as a partner in its very important ministry to our needy neighbors in the Metro Tampa area.
Diocesan Convention News
The 51st Convention of the Diocese of Southwest Florida was held in Punta Gorda last Saturday. This year's theme was You are the Light of the World. During the business session, the Convention confirmed the Tampa Deanery's election of Hal Wiley as the Deanery Lay Representative to Diocesan Council. The Bishop announced the appointments of Janice Straske to the Commission on Ministry and Greg Hearing as Deputy Chancellor for the Tampa Deanery. The Convention elected Ray Stoll to the Standing Committee and Greg Hearing as a Trustee of the University of the South - Sewanee. If we have died with him, we will also live with him;
if we endure, we will also reign with him;
if we deny him, he will also deny us;
if we are faithless, he remains faithful--
for he cannot deny himself.

However, because health regulations prohibit the clergy from being informed when our parishioners are in the hospital, we will not know if you or someone you love is there unless you tell us. We want to provide support in any time of need or crisis. Please call the parish offices at 259.1570 or  click here to email us to let us know when you need us.
