Annual Pet Blessing this Friday
Bring your pets, whether scaly, furry, or splashy, to be blessed! The blessing will take place in the church courtyard immediately following school (approximately 3:00 p.m.) on St. Francis Day, this Friday, October 4. T his year's complimentary dog biscuits will be provided by parishioner Ellie Brown through her company Brady's Biscuits.
Episcopal Schools Celebration: October 6
Episcopal Schools Celebration celebrates the ministry of the nearly 1,200 Episcopal schools and early childhood education programs throughout the Episcopal Church. Whether it is at school, the parish or cathedral, or at a diocesan-wide service or event, ESC is the time to give thanks and to proclaim to your community and the Church the good news that is your school! Hugh Jebson, Head of St. John's School, will give an address in place of the sermon at Sunday services on ESC which will take place on Sunday, October 6.
Annual Fathers Camping Trip
This year's St. John's Fathers camping trip is November 8 and 9 at Lakewood Retreat in Brooksville, FL (www.lakewoodretreat.org). Lakewood Retreat is located at 25458 Dan Brown Hill Road, 34602. Office phone: 352.796.4097

The cost is $25 per person. For example, a father bringing two children will be $75. Please mail a check made out to Kaivon Madani to: Kaivon Madani, 5224 Bayshore Blvd, Tampa, FL 33611, or you can pay at the campground. The fee will help cover the cost of the campsite fees, food, firewood, and other needed supplies.

St. John's School Admissions Open House
St. John's School is hosting a fall Admissions Open House on Tuesday, October 29, at 8:30 a.m., for K(4) through Grade 4 at the Lower Division campus (906 South Orleans Avenue).
Interested families can register at stjohnseagles.org/openhouse or contact Admissions for more information!

Can't make the Open House? The Primary Division is open for tours each Tuesday from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Ask a friend to join you for a tour and conversation and learn more about the St. John's experience.
Music Notes
The Choir of St. John's in Concert
The removal of the carpet from the sanctuary this summer resulted in enhanced acoustics, and the Choir of St. John's will present a concert of choral favorites to celebrate the new sound. The concert, which will take place on Sunday, October 13, at 5:00 p.m., will feature works by Olivier Messiaen, Robert Parsons, Sir Edward Bairstow, and Sir Charles Villiers StanfordReception to follow in the Parish Hall.  Simon Morley will conduct  and  Ryan Hebert will be  Guest Organist.
University of Tampa First Friday Recital Features Simon Morley
The next concert in the First Friday lunchtime series in Sykes Chapel at the University of Tampa will be on Friday, October 4  at 12:00 p.m. Our own Organist and Director of Music, Simon Morley, will play an organ recital on the chapel's fine Dobson organ. The program, which will last around forty minutes and is designed to be very listener-friendly, will include works by J.S. Bach, Grayston Ives, and Percy Fletcher. Admission is free, and the chapel, with its fine acoustic and organ, is well worth a visit.

Love INC Breakfast Fundraiser
On Tuesday, October 8, Love INC will hold a fundraising breakfast at the Portico Church, 1001 North Florida Ave. Tampa, FL 33602. Doors open at 7:30 a.m. A continental breakfast will be served from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m. and there is ample, free, off-street parking. There is no charge for this event, bring a friend and your hearts! There are plenty of seats at the table.

Adult Christian Formation
Women's Mid Morning Bible Study
On Tuesday, October 8, the Women's Mid Morning Bible Study continues their study of the Old Testament Book of Isaiah. The group invites you to come enlarge your understanding as they follow Interpretation Bible Study's Isaiah by Gary Light. 

The group meets on alternate Tuesdays in the Lowry Room beginning at 10:00 a.m. The lesson time is 10:15 to 11:15 a.m.   Deacon Kathleen Moore will be facilitating the study of Isaiah chapters 7:1-17 and 9:1-7, as well as the entirety of chapters 36 and 37.

Pumpkin Painting Party
Our St John's Pumpkin Painting Party will be Sunday, October 27  from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. in the Parish Hall! It's BYOP (Bring Your Own Pumpkin), and the church will provide paint, brushes, activities, and food! We encourage all families to participate in this fun Fall tradition. Invite your friends for a great time!

EYC In Service
Sign up to serve at the Metropolitan Ministries Holiday Tents on Saturday, November 23 from 8:45 to 11:30 a.m.! This is a fun and meaningful annual service event and 6th through 12th grade families are welcome to sign up together! EYC Halloween Party
The annual EYC Halloween Party (a combined 6 th through  12 th grade event) will be on Sunday, October 20  from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. in Discovery House! Please come in a church-appropriate costume for a night of games, treats, and fun. Invite your friends!

Mission Trip Meeting
On Sunday, October 13 , we will have our St John's EYC Mission Trip Parents' Meeting from 4:00 to 4:30 p.m. in Discovery House! Our 2020 EYC Mission Trip will be from May 31 through  June 6  in New Orleans. We have 18 spots available for the trip, and a $100 deposit at the meeting will secure yours. Come to learn more about the trip details, as well as our fundraising opportunities!

EYC This Week
This Sunday, October 6 , St John's will have another awesome night of EYC! Middle Schoolers (6th through 8th graders) will meet from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. at Discovery House, and High Schoolers (9th through 12th graders) will meet from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at Discovery House. The Middle Schoolers will learn about Worship this week (with Black Panther as our superhero example), and the High Schoolers will be learning about the importance of community from the movie About a Boy!

However, because health regulations prohibit the clergy from being informed when our parishioners are in the hospital, we will not know if you or someone you love is there unless you tell us. We want to provide support in any time of need or crisis. Please call the parish offices at 259.1570 or  click here to email us to let us know when you need us.
