Outdoor EYC Worship and Fun!
St John's EYC for 6th through 12th graders is BACK this month for our first in-person meeting--an afternoon of discussion, socially distant games, and worship (Compline)! We will meet on Sunday, June 28 from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. on the lawn of Discovery House! For Outdoor EYC, each person needs to bring their own lawn chair to sit in, and masks are required. All activities will be 6 feet apart, and there will not be any direct contact within the group. Hand sanitizer will be provided for each youth and adult leader, and we will not have dinner. We can't wait to gather back together in this community of faith. RSVP for Outdoor EYC before Friday, June 26 by contacting Youth Minister Ayana Grady at
Faith Cafe Spring/Summer Update
Faith Cafe has continued to serve lunch Monday through Saturday and dinner on Sunday this spring.
We are doing it differently to minimize exposure to COVID-19 for our guests and volunteers.
We are serving a bag lunch or dinner provided by Metropolitan Ministries instead of the usual
hot meal, plated and served to each guest in the dining room. Each guest approaches the front
door one at a time and receives a brown bag containing a sandwich, fruit, chips and a dessert
as well as a plastic cup of lemonade, tea or water, and a bottle of water to take with them. They
either eat outside, spacing themselves, or depart.

We are able to implement this format with 3 to 4 volunteers per day, enabling the volunteers to
social distance while they work. Many volunteers have felt the need to recuse themselves due
to their age and/or health challenges; but our St. John’s team has been blessed with a couple of
new volunteers recruited by Father Michael Cannon. As the summer progresses, the Board of South
Tampa Ecumenical Ministries (S.T.E.M.) will be planning how and when to reinstate dining room
service. At that time our need for volunteers will increase.

Recently, Deacon Kathleen Moore enthusiastically agreed to become one of St. John’s two
representatives to the S.T.E.M. Board which oversees the operation of Faith Cafe. She and her
husband, Nicholas Nitch, have a long history of involvement at Faith Cafe. She will be joining
Sally Wiley who already serves in that capacity. Both Kathleen and Sally welcome your
questions and interest in St. John’s ministry at Faith Cafe, Kathleen can be reached at , and Sally at .

June 24: What is healing prayer? and July 1: What is the relationship between the church and healing?  All are welcome; if you have not previously attended the Wednesday afternoon sessions, contact Deacon Kathleen at  or 785.9400 for the login information.
