Easter Series April 19 - May 31
With the COVID-19 pandemic shutting down schools, restaurants and "non-essential" businesses, forcing us all to stay home, no less causing tremendous illness, suffering, fear and even death, we could all use some good news!

Join us for an online worship series about the stories of Jesus' resurrection appearances, as well as stories from around our community where we are seeing Jesus show up amid this time of crises!

Sundays at 10:30 a.m. on Facebook Live: facebook.com/polkcityumc

Be sure to visit our online worship page to download a bulletin, request prayers, make your offering, and find links for children's activities: polkcityumc.org/online-worship
Share your good news with us!
  • Where have you seen God at work during this time of pandemic?

  • Where have you experienced faith that has gotten you through times of doubt or fear?

  • Where have you witnessed acts of love and kindness in your family, through your work, or in the community?
We want to share #SomeGoodNews each week as part of our online worship!

So send your stories, your photos & your videos to Pastor Melody: melody.webb@polkcityumc.org

Those submitted by Thursday each week will be shared the following Sunday.

Ring the Bell
Our church is joining other churches around the world in ringing our church bell at 8pm every night as an act of prayer and solidarity during the COVID-19 pandemic.

We ring our bell to honor all of the essential workers in our communities, and to join people of all faiths around the world in prayer for all those who are ill, those who are grieving the loss of loved ones, and who are going above and beyond to help others during the outbreak of this disease.

If you would like to take a turn ringing the bell, please sign up here: Church Bell Ringer Online Signup
Updates from the DMARC Food Pantry
SO PROUD! Thank you to our most generous congregation for stepping up in this great time of uncertainty. The Douglas Woods Challenge (April 1st-14th) for the Des Moines Area Religious Council (DMARC) Food Pantry Network is complete. Over those 14 days, you donated $1,165! Beautiful!

Adding to the money we have collected from the beginning of the year, our wonderful Finance Committee is sending a donation totaling $2,820 to DMARC! This is such a gift in this time of need and I am so very happy we are able to help! Remember they can feed 14 people for $100. With the matching donation from the Douglas Woods Challenge, that equals a donation to DMARC of $5,640, which will feed 790 people! Thank you everyone for making this possible!!

Sadly, hunger is not going away after the Woods Challenge. In this trying time, great need is increasing everyday with the overpowering unemployment situation. Please consider continuing your thoughtful donations, anytime, by using the church's electronic site ( polkcityumc.org/give ) or writing a check out to Polk City United Methodist Church and in the memo put "DMARC." Please mail your checks to Polk City United Methodist Church, Attn: Finance Secretary, 1421 West Broadway, Polk City, Iowa 59226.

Thank you, to all of you, for continuing to be a strong and giving congregation!

Any questions, please contact Linda Pennington: penningtonl@q.com
